I'm in the same boat. Got a cheap Harbor Freight 220v welder with flux core and I'm blowing holes in most of the stuff I try to weld with my 0.030 wire. I'm debating getting gas and welding MIG- so it makes that big of a difference? I'm also looking at the Harbor Freight TIG welder- is this a good buy or should I just save my money?

Are you using the GM LS2 coils with the heat sink potted in the rear of the coil? Is so 5ms is the ticket. Any less and they will not saturate enough. The internal ignitor is capped at 7.7ms, as well.
