  1. Back on all fours again! Thanks for all the good suggestions. I was able to get the springs to settle without too much fuss. Seattlejester, great tip and I will deffinately look into doing that to prevent any future headaches. Now on to the hundred other projects to get it back on the road looking and acting the way it is meant to. Not complaining...feels good to get this project rolling again. literally.
  2. That was my thought as well, just wanted conformation from the experts! Thanks
  3. Hello all, Years ago I purchased a Tokico strut/spring set. I do not remember if the shocks were the HP or Illumina. They're blue if that helps. Springs are marked 5022-F and 5022-R. Life got in the way before being able to install the kit but it's time has finally come. The car is currently up on stands and I installed the front this morning. At full droop with wheels mounted the spring is about 3/4 to 1 inch from the top perch. Is this what anyone would call normal? I have not installed the rear in the car yet but did not have to compress any of the springs to assemble the strut. This didn't surprise be considering the length of the new vs stock springs. Do I search? constantly....I've gotten lost in "the strut thread" on several ocasions. I have always been able to find the answers to my questions in the forum but have not been able to find this one so far. Thanks for the help!
  4. I was also going to mention a lean condition. Happend to me years ago and was definitely not top of my list of things to check.
  5. Is this what you are after? I can't decide if i like it or not. It's not the worst thing I've ever seen done to a Z. Jason
  6. I cut mine off in my 76. I think it would have fit without but the extra clearance is a good thing. It only took about 1/2 an hour with my cutoff wheel to remove both of them. Jason

  8. 2.38 for 91 today in Hutchinson KS. Filled the Datsun for the first time! Wanted to see if the sender in the new fuel cell was accurate. I guess I went a bit over full because about 1/2 gallon spilled out of the vent. Jason
  9. I got one right after reading this post!
  10. John is right. For some reason or another there is way too much fuel in the bowl. This can be caused by a stuck needle and seat, improper float level, or even too much fuel pressure. Fuel can't get to the boosters without going into the bowl first. How big is your carb and what is the rest of the combo? I know the guys at BG are not the most helpful but I have been able to get a few good answers from them over the years. I'm sure they think the carb might be wrong for the application (which may be right) and don't want to waste time helping you make it work. Hope this helped a bit. Jason
  11. I installed these on my 76 this weekend. Give me a day or two to post up some pics. I really like the way they look on the car and as everyone has said already, lightyears ahead of the good ol hood pins. Jason
  12. I hauled my Trans Am to the track to show off for a possible buyer and look what pulled in! I was too busy with my car to get a peek under the hood. I think it's a BBC and has EFI. He pulled a small trailer to the track, unhitched and clicked off a 9.89 and a 9.9_. The track is in Wichita, KS so I assume the owner lives near by. Jason
  13. I just picked up a set for my 76 from Car Quest. They were about $70 each but I had them the next day. The boxes they came in were labeled "genuine nissan" Seem to be working fine. Also got the hardware kit for $12. Jason
  14. I purchased a set of rocker arms for sbc from CAT. First I must say that the parts did end up working but I was not at all pleased with my transaction. I needed a set of narrow body roller rockers for my build and found their parts through an internet search. The price was right and they looked like good pieces so I went ahead and ordered a set. When the time came to install the rockers the poly locks were too large in dia. to fit tn the rocker slot. After many phone calls and 2 new sets of locks I shipped the arms back for them to come up with a solution. They came back with some crappy die grinder work and full on shavings. Spent 8 hours taking them apart to clean up their "repair" work. They didn't even disassemble the rockers while grinding and nicked the shaft on several arms. Sorry about my little rant but I think I have finally learned the you get what you pay for lesson. I will not skimp on performance parts again. They did seem eager to help with the problem and were fairly easy to deal with but I doubt I will do business with them again. Jason
  15. I lost my old trusty pick up truck to an overgrown elm tree Tuesday. Still trying to dig out so I can hitch up the trailer and move my drag car out of harms way. It lost it's place in the garage to the Datsun. lol Could have been much worse. Thankfully no damage to the house or garage but it looks like we are in for a few inches of snow Thursday night. Have to love Kansas weather! Jason
