  5. Hi, I'm looking to buy a 280zx 5 speed transmission out of an N/A 81-83 280zx. I would prefer local pick up in Los Angeles area or Southern California. I need a good one that is ready to swap in, with no slip or grind. Thanks you. Brian Ortiz
  6. Yah no wiring just plug and play with bulbs. There are no mods required when it comes to electrical and lighting. Brian
  7. I'm looking for a 280z r200 yoke(companion flange) and side shaft that connect to r200 differential and the halfshafts. Thanks Brian.
  8. Lol. Better safe than sorry. Yah I might end up doing that, it's raining 3 days straight here in Los Angeles. Was it brushed on gasket or spray. I have this bottle of liquid gasket with an American Indian in front. Dark brown color. I might use that.
  9. Yes sir. I forgot to mention that. I looked into threads about rear wing but for my situation it prob won't help. I just ordered a mig so I will weld that up but for now I should be ok since the gap is less than an inch.
  10. Hey HybridZ, I own an early 260z (8/73) and love the car. It is going to a bodyshop for restoration, but before it left I wanted to put some 240z lights because I love the way they look. I do like the 260z/280z tail lights but when I found a great deal for some 240z lights I couldnt pass up. I have searched thoroughly and have not seen a write up. I wanted to do something this Sunday as I am not a big fan of fotball, so I went ahead and removed the 260z tail lights I then test fitted the trim panels. (note those platic pins have to be removed) I then set up my weopons of choice, It was a drill and cutting wheel. I was ready to cut, I first used a sharpie and drew out the lines. It was simple to cut, nothing too complicated, The way I cut it was to make sure there was no round corners it all had to be squared. I cut till that point on the upper and lower portion of the metal. I test fitted and I needed to cut about a half inch on the upper side of metal panel so the 240z tail light housing can clear. It fit perfect. I then did a test fit with tail light first then with trim panel. I used the sharpie and pin pointed my holes. They were all different from 260z holes. They were nice and spaced out from exsisting holes. There was only one that wasnt but only needed a little trimming. They are from the upper left corner on the left hand side and the upper right corner on the right hand side. That was my start point for hole drilling. I was ready to install. The fit was perfect. The picture above is the left hand side finished and the right hand in the process. The light bulbs on my existing 260z did fit in the 240z tail light housing. They just needed some mixing and matching. They did light up but have no picture since it was already dark and rainy. I should have picture of lighting tomorrow. Here is the Finished product Well, it is semi-finished I just need to remove and clean. Then the car goes to restoration shop. note: I do have the middle piece which goes on tomorrown when I clean it and paint it. The holes on middle piece do match the holes of the 260z piece. There is no mod there just install License plate. It was fairly easy. The only real hard part was to remove 260z tail lights. It took me a little over 3 hours to complete.
  11. Hey, I am looking for an LD28 intake manifold non egr. Thanks Brian
  12. Yup that thing is gone going to have to buy a new one (remanufactured). I don't mind it is towards the car and not the engine, since I'm swaping the l26 out for the l28et.
  13. Ok I will go ahead and try that method, but if I do the caliper mounting brackets will only be supported by two bolts as the mounting is for 3 bolts to be mounted on the hub. That's the way it was designed by zraceproducts. Is it also a possibility that my brake booster has anything to do with it? I am asking becuase mine is failing. When I apply brakes the RPM goes up to 1,500+. I also have no way of turning on the car because my carbs are sent out for rebuilt. Thanks Brian
  14. I think I maybe need to bleed the front also. And the bleed valves in the rear are facing the front of the car at 180 degrees. It is not pointing up or down just straight with no tilt. The front brakes are left stock for now and haven't touched them. I also changed new steel lines in the rear connecting to rear way connecter and I think my brother might have applied the brakes without the steel lines. It might be that the 3 way connector might have got some air in the brake system.
  15. Hey hybridZ, I am currently doing a rear disk brake conversion and from a 280zx car. I installed everything, hooked up the new stainless steel brake lines and started to bleed the brakes. I had my mom pump the petal and I was opening the bleed valve, we bled on both sides and brake fluid seems to be coming out of bleeder. The pedal gets harder. I keep checking the master and keep filling up. We bled for a good 10 minutes per side(the rear). It still sink all the way towards the bottom. The brakes grab after 2-3 pump. It holds really good, but if I only press the brakes once it doesn't grab. When it is pushed in 2-3 times it does grab. Hope someone can help. Thanks brianZ
  16. Hi, I was restoring my early 260z dash (8/73) and thought the car would not start to without dash until I read here on the forum that you can. I went to my car 3 days later to start it. I connect the batteries and when I connect the cables to batteries it starts to spark. My dad says it a short or a wire touching another. I looked at many wiring diagrams and still can't get my baby to fire up. I need help, I have never messed with automotive electrical. If someone in LA area that knows datsun Z electrical can come help me! Thanks Brian

  22. Hi my s30 peeps. Well I recenty bought an early 1974 260z, I love it. My dad and I want to restore it. I am buying all the misc items for the car. I bought Corbeau cr1 seats, Rota RB-r, Rear disc conversion, Front big brake kit, Tokio shocks and springs, steering wheel, Xenon front air dam, and more to come. I already restored my dash. All of these items listed are not installed yet. I want to put in car but my dad wants to restore first. He is helping me out with $2,000 dollars. I am buying the accesories and soon the rB25det. I am wondering where should I start restoring and how much does $2,000 get you in sandblasting, rust repair, and paint. If anyone knows any places in SoCal that can do a good restoration. Thanks brianZ
