  1. The mating surface and bolt pattern are symmetrical, of course you can turn it around... was there someone saying you couldn't? Most people that want an intake entry right there just grab a maxima VG30 plenum because it already has the TB right there, and bolts straight on. For Z31 hood clearance you can angle the TB down a little bit with some pipe welded on. This would be a much more efficient way of the design you are trying to achieve.
  2. The 8611 isn't a coilover, it's just a strut cartridge.. like an illumina/bilstein/etc.. Your best bet for useing full coilovers is to go with the weld on collars for the front knuckles as shown on that same board (z31performance.com) since that S14 swap has yet to be put through any punishment by that user, and the people who have punished them have found bad weak spots. 2 weld on collars and you can use a complete coilover kit for an S13. If all you plan on doing is keeping it as a daily driver and just doing misc weekend warrior activities, I would just go with a set of adjustable tokico's and some higher springrate springs (such as Z3R or ST for a little softer.)
  3. VG33E is a very viable option, just use a nice turbo with it and some sort of custom tuneing system ( Z31 ECU with a romulator or a full standalone )
  4. there wasn't anything wrong... it was 1.5 litre's feeding a turbo of that size..
  5. I've yet to see any substantial proof that the DE(T)(TT) engines have a factory forged crank. If someone can prove that they are with some conclusive evidence, feel free, but I have yet to find any. Sure they have seen a ton of power, they were treated a few ways from the factory to be stronger, but forged? I'd like to see proof. Also, to the guy with the DE crank... would you mind measuring and documenting the measurements of it? I'm very curious if it will fit in a VG30E. Please let me know if you have the time.
  6. You don't need a stronger crank to get 400hp, just go with the stock crank. As for 400hp out of a vg30et... a gutted intake or a pathfinder intake will work best, good cams, valve springs (schneider) a hybrid turbo, intercooler, and fuel+some way to control it
