  1. Much time has past, the body work is done, the car is painted and I am starting to reassemble the car finally. Some parts of the car have been off for eight years.
  2. are you considering a manual shut off valve ( four seasons #84706, 84707) or something you control from inside? Using www.4s.com and you can view pictures of these part numbers.
  3. i buy that type of motor mount from heidt rod shop 7 years ago. nice clean design. I built a simular transmission mount.
  4. Finally able to get back to it, the new seal is in place and no leaks. After work today I'll get to finally break in the cam. I'll get some better pic taken and upload some construction photos now that I know how.
  5. motor starts but trans has leaks. Fixed leaks at trans cooler lines and found the side accum cover leaking. With all that room to work with I'll have it changed in no time! The motor sounded good though.
  6. I have been getting the motor ready to fire for the first time. Fuel leaks are fixed. The timing was 180 off. I heard it almost start!!!!! It would have but I stopped. Saturday morning I'll do it again. Courtesy to the neighbors is about to kill me. I am dying to hear this thing roar to life.

  8. opened photobucket acct, try to post photos tonight
  9. here's the motor mount I used: headers: better pics to follow, its raining.
  10. first attempt to start motor, had fuel leaks at carb and fuel pump. Have to replace fitting at pump. My error, I removed to much metal radiusing the inside and it effected the seat. Good news: pump works.
  11. I started this project as something to do over the winter (2000). I stripped it down to the shell and it didn't leave the garage on its own wheel for two years. Rust repair and reinforcement, suspension rebilding. I had a tpi 350 ready to go in. My brother and I were leaning on the fenders talking and he looked at the 454 I had sitting in the garage and he said too bad that wouldn't fit in there. One day the 350 was back out of the car for more engine bay work and I got curious, it did fit and looked so great i never put the 350 back in. I know it weighs more, I used aluminum where I could afford and the engine is placed back and low. The only thing past the rack is the water pump and harmonic balancer. I used a couple of references when I started the car. An old Hot Rod engine swapping guide (sbc 240z) and how to hot rod a datsun. I like v8's where they weren't intended to be. Currently a sbc 4pd s10, previously a 79 280zx v8, a 69 MGB GT 283/5spd, 48 Ford truck v8 4spd.
  12. motor mounts are from heidt's rod shop, headers are custom fenderwell to sidepipe headers. I spent six months of spare time measuring and routing the headers. I recently had the headers hot-jet coated. This project has evolved alot since I started.
  13. A regular Z is fun, sbc Z's are a blast but a BBC Z makes people have an involuntary reaction. I am reaching completion on mine and am excited to finally drive it.
  14. i'd say polished, the black looks good but with the black flares it isn't visually balanced.
