  1. I am installing large flow injectors in my 280 ZX turbo and need to purchase the electrical connectors and boots for a 450 SL from a Mercedes dealer. I will then install these parts and splice into the stock wiring harness on the 280 ZX turbo. The problem I encounter is that without a part number the dealers are unable to locate the parts I need. They look at diagrams that show the injectors, fuel rail etc. but they have no clue regarding the electrical connectors. Strange as it seems maybe their system does not operate like Nissan. Have tried several dealers and getting nowhere. Can anyone recommend a Mercedes dealer that may be able to help. I realize this is a strange request but I want to fire the beast up and I am hitting the wall. Everyone that I have asked tells me to get the parts from a Mercedes dealer. How do I do this when they need part numbers and I have no clue as to how to obtain this information? "HELP" Sleepless in Washington, "D.C."> Thanks everyone
  2. I need to replace the front and rear springs/struts on my Nissan 83 280ZX turbo. I want to reduce the rear end squat without the ride getting too hard and stiff. I just had a T3/T4 turbo installed and the increase in power and quick spool up is very dramatic! I will dyno the car latter this week, but I am at a loss as to what direction to go with the suspension area and I am having a difficult time trying to find any vendors who even have any products for the 1983 Nissan 280 ZX Turbo. Recommendations greatly appreciated. ZXRAMMAN:burnout:
  3. The turbo on my 83 280 ZX has a lot of play in the shaft and it is time to replace it. I have a cutom 3 inch exhaust from down pipe past muffler, running 9 psi boost, K&N filter, stock turbo. I would appreciate suggestions on where to get a replacement and what type perhaps a hybrid T3/t4.. I do not plan to race it, it's just a fun car, but as long as I have to replace the turbo I would like to investigate getting a little more power over the stock turbo. Thanks in advance for any advice. Regards, zxramman:burnout::burnout:
  4. Looking for help in trying to locate a good quality powdercoating vendor near the Washington D.C. area. I would like to avoid shiping parts out of the area, however I could travel to drop off the parts and pick them up. Anyone got any suggestions? Thanks everyone.
  5. My 83 turbo has not been runing good lately especially at high rpm's. Sometime it would even pop (backfire sounds like from intake). The engine is stock except for a K&N air filter and a 3 inch cat back exhaust with a large flowmaster muffler. I took the car to the shop that installed the exhaust and got it to pass the emisson's test. The owner seems to know his stuff and I have a good feeling regarding his technical expertise. He ran a fuel pressure test and found that the fuel pump was not providing enought pressure at high rpm's in 4 or 5th gear. They suggested that instead of replacing stock oem pump that I install a higher flow external fuel pump and a adjustable fuel pump regulator. The one recommended would be cable of supporting up to 400 + h.p. for future upgrades. Once I get it running properly I plan to install an after market boost gauge, boost controller, blow off value, and fuel pressure gauge. I don't plan to run any more boost than perhaps 10 PSI. If this all works out then I will play with the tunning on either a dyno or a g-teck guage. Any recommendations as to a boost controller and where to install the gauges. I would like to install a A pillar mount for the guages if I can find one for a Z this old This will be my phase one mods at this point in time. This car is the first turbo Z, my other ones are all N/A. I always wanted a Turbo but had difficulty finding one that I afford and was worth fixing. I am a novice with the turbos so I would appreciate any help zxramman
