  1. U still need the differential
  2. Fellow nw guy here. Looks awesome you definitely done as much work ad I've done to my Z except it's taken me 6 years lol. Married kids..you know the deal. So I just finished rebuilding a junkyard 83zx 5 speed and installed that. Today I just finished installing a front differential out of a nissan 720 4x4. Took it all apart to swap the buttons out of the side gears so my stub axles will bolt on. Looks like it's barely even used. It's a 4.38 ratio so it's bound to make hole shots real fun. How was the floor instal? My passage needs it real bad. I got a set of zed findings floors and rails, I'm just a little scared cutting into the body. I'm a mechanic not a body dude.
  3. I have 17 inch wheels with an aspect ratio of 235. I used the software posted somewhere online and it said it had me at 3k doing 70mph. Not sure. I'll enjoy it regardless.
  4. 4.38 is gonna be wicked. But by the time you factor in my 17 inch wheels it's probably a 4.11. So I found the problem. I swapped the old side gears into the 4.38 diff. When all you have to do is push the buttons out of the old side gears and press them into the 4.38 side gears. And of course remove the c clips from the 4.38 side gears. Now it's tight as a drum. So excited!!!
  5. So the story is I have a 71 zed. I swapped an 83zx 5 speed and now I want to take advantage and put a 4.38 diff in. 4.38 diff out of a 83 nissan 720 I did the "button" swap from my old diff into the new 4.38 diff. A couple problems. The side gears or "buttons" from my old diff looked noticable smaller than the ones coming out of the 4.38 diff. Teeth count were the same though. Once I reassembled everything and Torqued things to spec I noticed the sides gears has a little bit of gap. I can bolt in the axle stubs and move the stub in and out 1/8th of an inch or so. I did use all the same spacers and kept them in correct order for the 4.38 diff. There is a formula to calculate side gear gap but it requires me to disassemble the diff and measure the spacer and other things. There is also some noise when I spin one of the stub axles which I have posted here: https://youtu.be/TKesvom5MZo Any help???
  6. I have a 4core radiator. Couldnt find fans thin enough. With a little more than 3inches of space from the wp pully I found ford contour dual fans to fit almost perfectly across my radiator. Little mods to fit, pulls more air than what u can find aftermarket. Cost 43 dollars picknpull I found that indpection lamps are ridiculously expensive. Call ur local nissan dealer or courtesy nissan in texas, theyre reasonable. I think I paid 79 bucks brand new. They have tons of z parts brand new, theyre the dealership that restored some zs in the early 2000s. The datsun nissan trucks have the exact same engine lamp as our 240z. I look for them everytime im at the junkyard. At 3.99 a pop ive found 2 in like new condition and 2 in fair. I plan to sell these to other z enthusiasts at a reasonable price. On older nissan maximas and datsun nissan trucks u will often find rubber coil boots. They are the exact same part u find online for 50 bucks or more for the z. I think mine was free at the local picknpull because I bought a bunch of stuff. U can find early 80s maximas withvthe l24, most have a 60amp nissan re manufactured alternator. Good upgrade if u wanna go from 45amp to amp and solid state. I think I paid 39 dollars for my like new nissan reman alt. Of course if u do find a maxima l24, the cylinder head will yield high comp. With the infamous heart shape quence design on the e31 heads. I paid 85 bucks for it, its been rebuilt in the past. All I can think of for now
  7. If u want a spare light in good shape with no cracking cover ill sellu for 35 bucks shipped
  8. I used to use valvoline racing 10w30 thats the one with zddp. Right now I use motul 300v 10w60 for trackdays
