  1. I know this topic is a little old but I'm having the same issues with finding a site that has the BZ3099 models (I've tried 6). I don't have the budget to go with the Konis just yet. Any recommendations or does anyone have 2 sitting around they don't need?
  2. Juarez88: I thought about RC but it looks like they just offer a cleaning/balancing service for the injectors is that correct? I'm thinking mine need a rebuild with new hoses and o-rings. Motorman was doing a rebuild with new parts for the same price per injector. At that point, I might as well get them all done instead of figuring out which injectors were having problems. Zentech: Thanks for the offer, but the price is a little too steep for this budget build. If I send mine in, I'm getting them rebuilt for $160 a set of six shipped.
  3. Hi all I've contacted the "Motor Man" that I've seen brought up in the forums to see what kind of a quote he can give me for 6 injectors to be rebuilt. But I figured I'd see if anyone has any rebuilt or new condition injectors for the L28et laying around. These are the brown topped injectors. If you have something that flows and has the same impedence as the stockers without any modifications (I have the palnet rail with barbs, so no o-ring type), I'd be willing to check into those. Let me know Thanks
  4. I'm looking for an 83 manual turbo ECU. I'm not sure if my current ECU is on its way out or not. I'm in Santa Barbara, CA if anyone is close. Thanks

    Manifolds on

gorgeous! you have a thread going about this manifold?
  6. Definitely check out Ebay for turbo rebuild kits. You can find really good kits for about 70-100 bucks. This was the route I was going to take, but after watching a couple videos of the actual rebuild process and how well the shops clean them up, I might save my headaches for another project and just have the turbo rebuilt by a shop. Do your research on the rebuild. I'm really emphatic about doing all my own work, but a turbo is a little too expensive and delicate for me to tinker with. Plus these shops do it all the time! I figure there's no better way to help the economy than giving my tax refund to someone else for their work!
  7. I'm definitely looking at calling gpopshop this week after seeing these comments. But Ineptitude01 did I understand correctly that you sent them two blown t3's and they returned a t3/t4 for ya? That sounds like a killer deal for 550 shipped. I have a TB03 from an older volvo in damn good condition, but would rather have it rebuilt just to be sure of what's in it. If I'm already spending the 350 to do a basic rebuild, I'm wondering the cost of upgrading that little sucker since it's already shipped. Any thoughts on me bumping up to a t3/t4 before I talk to these guys? I've done the research on how the hybrid plays in performance, but with my power goals in mind, it might be worth the extra cash.
  8. you own the blue one? and did you drive it all the way down from fresno?
  9. just thought I would throw up some pics I took as well. It fit the heading. Thanks again to everyone who went out this year and gave me plenty to look at. If anyone has a problem with their car on here, ill take it off no problem. hopefully i'll be in this show next year
  10. ya i finally got it done and he did a nice job. i basically had him just do the flange work so he wasn't actually installing it. Nice enough guy but he was sayin a bunch of smog/exhaust shops were bein busted by the state workers for not following new laws so he was just bein careful So he told me as long as the cat has been installed pre 2009, it follows the law. luckily for me, the stamps on my cat that say its a 2008 are on the heat shield which has a 2.5 inch clearance to the body i would love to see a smog tech stick a mirror into that little spot (it doesn't matter though, the cat was installed in 2008 )
  11. ^ very similar to what this muffler guy said. I'll get those pics of the cat up tomorrow. Don't know how it will help anyone on here, but there's bound to be someone screwed by this sooner or later. The curious thing is that the universal cats are still available with this new certification, specifically the one he showed me. He said that the cost sky rocketed from 70 bucks (example) to about 200 or so. Makes sense that it costs more since it will last longer, but i wonder if good ol' Sac gets a little cash out of these new cats? As always Tony, appreciate the info. I'll look around again to see where this other post is
  12. The guy told me that any exhaust systems built from now on will have to include this new cat. The only problem I have is now I have to go to another shop to have them weld the "old" cat onto my mid pipe, and then take the car to the other shop to have the exhaust finished, so no one shop can get in trouble with the law. I think Im headin to the shop tomorrow to get my truck worked on, so ill snap a pic of the new stamped cats. I live off of north bear creek in merced and its a 77 with 83 motor. I haven't seen any s30's in town for a while, but I just got back in the country. Once I get this beast runnin legally, we should meet up and compare notes haha.
  13. I just went into the muffler shop to get a quote on new piping and heard some new information. "All of the smog shops had to send in their pre 2009 catalytic converters for new ones with stamps" I didn't get a picture of the stamp on the cat but it looked almost like a cattle brand with CA and 2009 This kinda screws me since I bought my cat last year. Anyone else heard about this new "law" along with the other bull---- smog for 2009?
  14. not trying to give any attitude guys, I realize now how it might have come out that way. but thanks for the alternator advice, ill see what I can afford when I get home.
  15. Hey guys, don't hold your breath on reading this post haha Huge fan of the Hybrid community, like everyone else on here, however I don't think I've ever posted anything. I've got some video links below so if you recognize the problem immediately from experience, drop me a line. Otherwise, I'll still dig through the threads. All in all, I'm sitting in my room in Germany away from my Z, dreaming and crying because I don't have a tool set near me. So here's a post of what's on my mind besides German. I've been working on this swap unfortunately off and on for the past couple years (school and a car in another town don't mix well). I have the motor running (drove in first and in reverse ) and its not running well. Video of motor: Video of gauges: -Its a 77 280Z with a 83zxt motor hooked up to the stocker 4 speed from the 77 motor. all associated parts with the swap except a fabricated J-pipe. -I also have a new 83 zxt alternator and battery in the car, but the electrical measurements have been kinda off (dummy light red on battery gauge, gauge needle rises from 14V with engine speed, however the system doesn't break 16V around 2500) am I missing something? -I'm thinking I have a bad ground, or it could be tied to the alternator, but the ECU has now somehow developed the problem of having intermittent power. Sometimes it has the green light, but after the videos I had to push the car back into the garage. How could a ground become faulty after just sitting in a garage? -You can also hear some slapping. It sounds like a cylinder, however it just began this recent running of the engine. -In the video inside the car, you can see the gauges dimming with lower engine speeds. I know of something called a "monster cap" for stereo amps, so when the sub hits, it doesn't dim the light. Please don't tell me I need stereo crap to fix a dimming light without a stereo in the car? I have no idea how a higher rated output alternator from the zxt would make my gauges dim? Anyways, I figured I should atleast post something on the site I always look though. Too many beautiful Z projects on here. Come April, I'll be back in the states and workin on this girl to get her running correctly; hence why I should introduce the project now so you might be familiar with me later. Thanks for readin, and I'll keep hackin away at these threads tryin to find similar problems. I'm just trying to get a list of what I should focus on when I get home. It sucks tryin to trouble shoot when your on the other side of the world, but its all I have right now. Take it easy guys
