  1. Went back to the dyno with the new ECU which now talks to the AIM Solo track data system. On a mild safe tune we got to 309 whp or so on the Dynapak at UMS Tuning.

But since my classing legal max is about 240whp we made another tune where the power is reduced as soon at 240whp is achieved (5000rpm) and then it's a flat 240hp to redline.

The next day it went to a facility with a Dynojet to get the required classing dyno check and the numbers were a direct match.

So... $500 bucks later I went from 309hp to 240hp and I was happy. Funny how the world works

  2. Mine would be a track only application.  All the fast M3s we race with use the BMW system and swear by it.

Its a stand-alone off the shelf BMW Computer, pump and actuator all in one box.

There is a vendor that sells a harness for ~$1500 to make it a stand-alone with power / grounds all that is needed.

    On  my list for 2017.

Although since I have a 350Z ECU for the VQ motor I might see about the Nissan box which could talk to a Body Module and then have some wheel data into the OBD for my datalogger.

  3. <--- walks up to the dusty old bar table and slams down a fresh drink...   Lets resurrect this thread boys!!

I want the BMW Mk60 4 channel system in my S30.  The only hurdle is getting the proper RPM input from the wheels.

Custom rings sandwiched with my CV axles and a bracket in the rear?

    NFC on the fronts yet...

I think the Mk60 BMW uses an 83mm ring.

    BAM!  :)

  4. No current codes. But we disable most of those in OSIRIS to make it all work in a raw standalone application. I previously got a P2135 and swapped to a spare right throttle body which fixed the P2135 but it doesn't idle well with the spare TB.

So I got 2 brandy new TBs and still idles weird and won't do what the targets in OSIRIS are commanding.

So for fun I re-enabled the throttle closed learning and a bunch of other functions and tried to do the Learn feature but it doesn't seem to take it.

Maybe just how it has to be

  5. Unless I am missing something, there doesn't seem to be a lot of data about the Osiris Uprev VQ35HR or DE support, especially for stand-alone installs.

I'm gonna drop this here and let's see what happens.

A problem I have had is trying to get the ECU to successfully command idle RPM.

I have a Tuner license and cable and tried just about everything but stuck at around 1250RPM idle.

  6. I contracted with Jim at Turbo Toys.

They sent me a video of the Vq35hr with modified harness and OSIRIS starting, and revving on a pallet with everything I needed (gas pedal, Trans, everything).

The Trans was damaged in shipping and he sent another one right away.

    No brainer.

  7. Mine was a Z-Fever type wiring setup with Osiris Uprev pre-installed.  Just connect power and ground.

It starts, idles, accelerates and runs flawlessly and with Osiris you can tweak anything you need.

Many aftermarket ECU setups just never seem to get all the run&drive stuff dialed in like a factory ECU does.

Hard to beat.  Unless you want to spend a mega-lifetime researching mega-forums.

  8. Installing my new T3 Big Brake kit front and rear on the race car this weekend.

I had the big "plate" style early 280zx calipers in the back and the new T3 setup is a lot more pad area and 6lbs less per side (12 total rear weight loss).

Up front I had the S12W which have plenty of stopping force and never faded with 660 fluid, ducts and DTC60 pads.  But the new T3 setup will get DTC70 pads, ducting and is about 15 pounds lighter per side!!  That's 30 pounds less unsprung weight in the nose.  And a net loss of 40 ish pounds on the car?  Might have to check my classing sheet again!!

Many thanks to Gabe for dealing with my annoying questions too  :)

    Good dude.

Supposedly a decent pilot also :P

  9. I just installed the Zpowersteering.com system and raced it at AutoClub Speedway this past weekend.

I only used about 1/2 of the force adjustment and it was fantastic.  Felt like a Z, but easy to steer.  Absolutely zero issues with feel or feedback, except that it was all just better.

    I'm running 275 Hoosier R7 tires.

Cant say enough good things about it.

  10. I have Hagarty on my 560SEC my 240Z track car.

Unfortunately dropped load of bricks on the 560 last week at my house and they sent a check basically the next day.

Track car is covered everywhere but while on track. When the 240Z burned down on track I didn't even call them.

I'm an insurance Agent so I wrote the coverage myself. Remember there is a BIG difference between "Stated Value" and "Agreed Value". Stated is subject to discussion, Agreed is just that. I could probably save money elsewhere but now that I've had a claim I will let them get their money back for a bit.

  11. My ACT HD served me well. But on less hp.

    Light FW never hurts.

I have a twin-disk now, doubt I would recommend that for a street car. Who really wants to spend $2K+ for the clutch and flywheel for a street car. There are places that will re-spring the pressure plate too. I have an AZZcar PP with a broken spring I should probably send off.
