Awesome. Thanks very much for the input. It is a huge help. Next step will be the door bars. Is there any rules I should be aware of when building them?
-
Harness bar is all fixed up and now in the correct location hopefully.
-
Well fixed the horizontal brace/harness bar tonight. Much better. I think it should pass now. Thanks again John for the heads up and the info. Helps out a lot
Here are the pics of the correction

Very interesting. Do you have pics?
-
Got the horizontal brace/harness bars cut out last night and smoothed out. Damn it's easier to weld them in then cut them out and smooth everything out without messing up the other tube work.
Here's the start of the new horizontal brace/harness bar.
Enjoy

She looks great!!!! Happy Brithday!!

Well I screwed up on my harness bar it is too low and won't pass tech. So going to cut it out tonight and move it to where it needs to be
-
At John-- Thank you for pointing that out very much. I will cut them out tonight and redo them. I am still very new at this and is one great learning experience.
Will post pics later of the correction so people can also see the correct way.

I want you to build my cage when I make my new tub (after I build a 5-bay garage, which is after my wife's pool!). That is one of the nicest cages I have ever seen! I bought an Autopower cage once and I wound up cutting it up. (No knock on Autopower, it was a bolt in, non-custom cage, so I got what I asked for - didn't know what I really needed). I just love the way the door opening has been totally preserved, especially since I will be looking for a cage that will be for a mostly street driven car. I couldn't get in and out of my Autopower cage. Great work! Major-like.
Thanks!!! Unfortunatly though the door opening are going to become smaller. Putting in door bars so it's legal for wheel to wheel racing. That's what I am going to work on tonight

Finally got the seat mounts in and the seat bolted into place. Now I can do my harness bar/cross bar. Enjoy!
This pic it looks like the cross bar is in crooked but it's not

Get the red and tacky Lucas grease. That's all we use in my shop. Has never let us down. I rebuild prob a dozen front ends a week. Used it many times on inner tie rods and never had to warranty one yet.

Have the rear window panels and the panel that goes across the roof. They are out of a series 1

So true!

Looks good. I fabed up my own floor pans to save money. I bought a 36" metal break and a 4x10 sheet of cold rolled 18ga for half the price of the MSA ones and also built frame rails w/ 1x3 tube .080 wall. Worked out really well and stiffened up the chassis. Keep up the good work

Mirror is probably mandatory no matter what. Window net will be club or run group dependent.
Not at that point yet. Will worry about it when I get there
Last night got the diagonal bar cut and fully welded into the car
-
Last night got the diagonal bar in on the main hoop of the roll cage and fully welded in.
-
No sure on mirror or window net yet. Being I still need to get a lot more track time under my belt first. I can always add it later.
-
No it would have sucked since I already had the plates for the cage in and fully welded in before even doing the main hoop. So didnt have much of a choice. But it was very simple doing it this route. So the next one prob going to do it the sameway.

Welded up the holes in the roof last night. Turned out ok. Will still need to use a minimum amout of body filler. .

Welded the roof back up last night will need minimum body filler.

Awesome family project. Looks great!!

So got a little more work done on the roll cage. Cut holes on the rear fender wells and also in the roof. I really did not want to cut off the roof and I like doing sheet metal work so I said screw it and cut holes. I and going to patch the holes on the roof tonight. So keep watch so you can see the final details on the roof.
I did finish welding the cage. All I got left is door bars and a few more tubes going to the front/rear strut towers and a few gussets.
Enjoy
some seam welding added
Holes in the roof
Rear fender well

Worked on the car a little today. Couple hours while the kid was taking his nap. Got holes cut in the roof and in the rear fender wells to access the rest of the cage to do final welds. Welded up those sections of the cage and also seam welded the inside of the car. She is slowly coming along
Enjoy
