I know that I have not been on here in a while but here are some Up Dates from 1 QUICK Z from TENNESSEE We had not raced the Little Tire Z since 2009. And we only raced the Big Tire Z at a few selected races in 2010 and had a descent year with it Winning the Spring Virginia Laser Shootout, Running in Pinks All Out {Quick 16} at Bristol, and running in the True Street 8 secound index at Super Chevy.
Due to our business being slow at Phillips Performance the winter of 2010 and a slow in 2011 with no extra spending budget for racing, we did not race either Z the spring and summer of 2011. I was about to go crazy not getting to race any and we finally worked up enough budget for a couple of races in the Little Tire Z . We stepped up the tune-up on the Z to try and get it to go a little faster than the 8.80’s we had ran when we were either doing Wheelies or breaking half shafts when we launched on the IRS. We ran Sept 9, 2011 in the Biggest Race of the Year the Virginia Laser Crazy 8 Ball Race and Won! Running some consistent high 8.7’s during the race, And we Won our match race with a mustang 8.795 at 160.29 to a 8.838 at 152.97
We then went to race Super Chevy Sept 23,24 and 25th 2011 at Bristol running in the 8 second True Street class ( driving in a 30 mile cruse and running 3 back to back passes) We ran our Quickest Pass to date with a 5.67 et at 127.53mph in the 1/8 and 8.74 et at 160.02mph in the 1/4 and that’s babying it out of the hole with only a 1.39 60ft

The little tire car moves great ... But how (little) is the tire ?
I have Hoosier Quick Time Pros 27x10.5x15 D.O.T's but the tread width is only 9'' wide. I'll post up a build sheet on the Z.
Thanks Jon

Jon,
Please know that you and yours are in our prayers also. Hugs to Miss Regina and best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Wayne
Wayne, We just got home from having Regina's surgery at Vanderbuilt UV. They ended up keeping her overnight. The Doc told us that she took out all she could and hopfully the test will come back in 5 days with clear margins. Please everyone still keep her in your Prayers.
Thanks
P.S. I hope you and your Z car are doing Good.

That's pretty impressive numbers with the IRS still underneath her. I am going for a 9 second pass as soon as Texas Motorplex in Ennis will open again for TNT or fun .
Mike, It looks like you have a good car and setup. If you are going to get your Z car in the 9's you will need to come out of the hole with the Nitrous to get your 60ft and ET down, I have a New FJO Mini Nitrous Progressive controller for sale for $250.00 It will let you come off the line with a small % of your tuneup and ramp in the power over time. That is what you will need so you won't have to hit the IRS so hard with the dragradials. Give me a call if I can Help.

Give me a call if I can help out.

That is an impressive launch. Are you coming to DNI on the 18th?
No we won't be coming to the DNI Drags on the 18th. We broke the transmission in the finals of our Quick 8, so we are down for the winter. We wish everyone luck, safe trip and verry fast ET's.
-
That when the chit hit the fan literally! No...that's when the fan hit the radiator causing the water to spew out.

After fixing the carnage from Super Chevy...about $1000 worth....I guess it was all worth it! Tied the front end down leaving about 2" of travel and put adjustable shocks on the front and tightened them up. Here's a video a friend of ours did for us (Thanks Richard)....but the start is not real clear...I will add a better video when I have time to download.

Slide show of my wheelie at Super Chevy along with videos of the two passes. This is with the Modern Motorsports lower control arms and Hoosier DOT's. The car bottomed out on my sump on the gas tank. The track was really hooking and we thought we could get an 8-second pass out of it until after the second wheelie at about 800-feet the water pump shaft broke and slung the fan into the radiator, cut the transmission line, lower radiator hose, messed up the bottom pulley and balancer....I've included photos of the carnage also.

(Quote!) As long as your not 180 degrees out!
Sorry, I mean 12 to 15 degrees before top dead center on the compression stroke on # 1 cyl.
-
Corzette,
If your are dealing with a V-8
Take your distributor with the cap on it and mark #1 ( looking straight down on top of it # 1 will be at 5 o'clock position and the vacuum advance will point between the 8 and 9 o'clock ) Mark the cap and the distributor, now bring your motor to 12 to 15 degrees before top dead center on# 1 cyl compression stroke and then install the distributor in the motor with the rotor pointing at the 5 o'clock position matching the mark on the distributor. ( you might need to take a long screwdriver and turn the oil pump shaft to get it to line up ) run your wires and tighten up your dist clamp and it should start right up.
If your dealing with a straight 6 with a distributor without a gear ( it will only go in 2 ways ) Bring your motor to 10 degrees before top dead center on # 1 cyl compression stroke. Install your dist and wire your cap from where the rotor is pointing. ( it should be close to where your old dist rotor was pointing.)
-
Hickl,
The # 4748201 is a Unilite Electronic - 47 series Distributor with a self-contained optical pickup and module with adjustable mechanical and vacuum advance. They sell new for $ 246.00 If you use it just make sure that you use a # 700 ballast resistor to bring down the voltage or you will burn out the optical eye in the dist.
-
Hickl,
If your distributor is a mallory unlite, the mechanical advance is under the plate under the rotor and can be adjusted by bending the tab and or heaver or lighter springs to get the advance you want for your motor. You can still use the vacuum advance with the mechanical to fine tune your motor. I hope this helps.

Congratulations John and Jerry on your 5.58 at 130mph in the 1/8th mile and we know there is a lot more left in the car .. Before you run that beast of a Z through the ¼ mile you might want to install a wing ( for the down force ) and a parachute ( to help get her stopped) as mid to low 8’s at 165 to 170mph is right around the corner… It just shows what a lot of hard work , and a little bit of money can do when you guys built it yourselves. Your Z looks great and runs killer fast...Keep up the good work with your Z !!!!!!!!!
