  2. what are the dimensions of the fuel barbs?
  3. you can paint it yourself for sure its all in the body work and detail that means primer base coat clear coat and a lot of wet sanding
  4. I had similar problems check your ignitions switch and buy a new one also check your alternator Recharge your battery and put it back on and see how it runs if it runs better that means its your alternator
  5. Hi guys my name is Victor im 17 years old i live in Washington and this is my first post. So getting to the point i have found a lot of both little and big things that can help you get your z running.Here are the problems ive had with both my z and other peoples ill organize it by: Spark,:distributor,ignition system and electrical Fuel, :Fuel pump,tank,filter,injectors and so on Air, :Intake and exhaust systems Spark: ok so the number one problem ive had was the ignition switch,the problem i had with this particular system was that in the back of the switch there is male connectors that connect to its female counterpart which is connected to the harness below your steering wheel.the picture i used for this system i got it from Esc8p2NeverLand from zilvia.net another thing i noticed were the fusible links its one of those small parts that if you take out your car wont run.those can either be damaged or in the wrong order in my case there is two kinds brown and black and they go in order like so..black,brown and brown,brown keep in mind that im facing the spark plugs. another thing in this area can be simple things like spark plugs,spark plug wires,distributor system,cap and rotor and timing.Basically for timing the rotor has to face the #1 wire and the engine has to be in Top Dead Center (TDC) remember to check all the connector of the electrical system both male and female.The vehicles wiring diagram plays a HUGE role in solving any electrical problems you might have.The TPS or throttle valve switch as Nissan calls it has to be adjusted properly and be in working condition Fuel: fuel might be the easiest to troubleshoot and repair ill start from the fuel tank, the fuel tank can be really dirty (being a 70's car)and you might either have to clean it yourself or have a shop do it for you.The easiest way to check if you have dirty fuel is to put a see through filter before the fuel pump like so There are many solutions to this problem but the easiest would be to buy a Fuel Cell, or cut the tank in half clean it and weld it back the fuel pump is located underneath the car just in front of the fuel tank i haven't had any problems but i would check the fuel pump relay for that the next systems are fuel pressure regulator,fuel lines,fuel rails,injectors,fuel filter, electronic fuel injection relay (EFI relay) cold start valve, basically for this you might want to check the lines for cracks or leakage,also you might want to check fuel filter to see if its clogged,injectors are checked my voltmeter or putting a flat head driver on the line just above the injector and feeling the pulses it makes sometimes one or two injectors might be weak or damaged for he EFI system i recommend reading the EFI bible wich is really usefull here is the link http://www.atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/efisystem/280zfuelinjectionbook.pdf you can view it online or download it for future use ok for the intake and exhaust its basically just visual inspection for example visible cracks in both intake and exhaust manifolds.Missing bolts in manifold studs holes in exhaust system or intake system..Another thing is the vacuum system here is a perfect example of the Nissan vacuum system (the vacuum hoses are RED) vacuum lines have to be free of cracks,slits,holes and has to be clamped on right not to tight not to loose. so here are a list of solutions that i have for the problems i used to have.Hope i helped you in some way or another because you guys sure did Basically to solve a problem here in our industry or anywhere else you have to work hard and dedicate your time 101 percent.But first you have to Understand the system,break down the system (as in understand the different components and what they do),test the system, and repair the system because if you cant understand the system how can you repair it? thank you all!
