  1. I like to use RM products such as 900, but DuPont has good stuff too.
  2. Fade looks are alot easier to pull off with rattle cans. You should practice with a gun. Also fades like on that Merc are done with candy paints which are semi transparent, and easier to fade well. The more coats you put on the darker it gets. You can also add base clear to the candy to make it more transparrent for the fade. Do a Silver base over the entire car, then apply a candy blue over the silver, and slowly fade to nothing but silver. One thing about candy type paints is that you have to be good about your overlaps or you could end up with striping. But that can be overcome with practice.
  3. Rich fuel makes black smoke. White is usually moisture of some kind, usually coolant. Could be oil as well if introduces post combustion chamber. Blue is oil.
  4. Wow! That is definately "one quick Z"! Has to be cool to break into the 7's.
  5. Oh, and I plan on making this about a two year project, So as not to rush anything, and to do it right the first couple of times at least. I can't seem to get anything right the first time around. But with this forum I hope to be able to minimize the mistakes.
  6. I am from Pocatello, and Need a V8 Z! I will probably not drive it much as a 6. It will be getting pulled into the shop as soon as it gets home, and disassembled. I would buy one without an engine and tranny as long as the body was in OK shape. I can do body work and paint, so I'm not affraid of a little body work. Does the structural parts of the unibody rust out on these cars?
  7. I am new here, and don't even have a Z yet, but am looking at one this weekend, and want to put a Chevy LT1, or LS1 V8 in her. Are there any pro's or cons with going with one from a Vette rather than say, a Camaro, or Impalla? Also how tough are the rear ends on the 260Z's. That is what I am looking at this weekend. Any help, or suggestions are greatly appreciated.
