  1. A question on the drawing posted above, what is your starting reference point...center of crank I am assuming, I might repost a slightly revised version which works off of center of crank and zero degrees at top of drawing, not having a square starting point is a bit strange for me
  2. I have an 86T I am using for a donor front and rear, so most of what you had concerning the rear and re drilling I can avoid, with what I currently have on hand it looks like a pretty direct swap with just the spacers being a concern, but really that part seems easy. Thanks for the writeup, Ill post some notes and pictures after I do the swap, luckily the 86T had some nice tires on the stock rims, which to me look pretty nice ! I was hoping maybe I could use the axels too, the 86 has nice boots on the CV's maybe a stronger part than the zx's had. I do have the r200 out of the 86 obviously, is it possible the two can just be swapped directly differntial wise is there any bolt pattern issues ?
  3. hey all, 81 280zx owner here, she was in pretty ruff condition but almost rust free, just the spare tire well was an issue, the floors and under carraige are rust free. She has a lot of miles, over 358K so far, but she runs great and does not smoke, so it is possible the engine has been rebuilt, but so far I haven't any proof of that. So far I have replaced most of the bushing front and back, but still have to do the 4 control arms. I have replaced a lot of the interior with z31 parts, carpet , seats , center console. Still a long ways from where I want to be, but she is a DD now and fun to drive.
  4. I am considering at least doing a test fit, my 81 zx dash is in poor condition. I have an 86t and an 84 NA dashes, and all the gauges and harnesses, I think it is doable, so I will post some pics on my progress asap. Was hoping I wasn't the 1st to try this.
  5. I have been considering trying to graft z31 fenders to my 280zx, I have an 86 turbo I am parting, I have no qualms cutting it to bits, so I am going to see what they look like after I cut them and mock up position. Not so much the entire fender, just the wheel well opening for flares.
  6. pretty sure the parts would be interchangable, throttle body swaps using 60mm 240sx parts works with a little fabing. Typo I thing when you put "NA L28ET", Can't be both Good luck
  7. Here’s a link to Motorsports wheel page, they do have a non spacer wheel, which fits perfectly. http://www.xenonz31.com/autotomanualswap.html Rota's do have staggered sets of wheels; I’ve only looked at 280zx fitment, but should be close to the 240's also. They do look really nice, might require a little fender lip rolling to get the clearance needed, but that’s pretty easy, and only needs to be done to the top of the arch. heres a few pics attached of Yasin's and Fricfrac's 280zx's with Rota's. http://www.racinglab.com/rota-stagger-wheels.html
  8. Heres a link that might help you with the swap, I'm in the middle of doing a NA Motor/ manual Trans swap to an 86T that had an automatic prior. http://www.xenonz31.com/autotomanualswap.html
  9. I just recieved a Kit from Fricfrac last week. These are some of the nicest connectors available, a big upgrade on quality and reliability. I got a set for my 81 280zx. Fricfrac is an Electrical engineer, and a bit of a perfectionist, and this kit reflects that. Highly recommended http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v413/nismopick/Misc%20Z%20Pics/Clips2.jpg I can post pics of my Kit if anyone needs.
  10. Just sat down and read all 17 pages of this post. Very Impressed with Pete’s work. The panels look amazing and you really went the extra mile in your service and integrity. Nice to see some old fashioned craftsmanship and ingenuity still exists in this great land of ours. Car guys and more specifically, Z car guys form a pretty tight community and it’s a fun hobby when people are keeping it fresh like Pete.
  11. 81 280zx, almost 400k on original engine, She is currently 2nd in line project wise. Currently doing a z31 swap. I plan on dropping in a freshened up L28et.
