  1. I ordered the rings today from a local parts house. He said they are sealed power rings repackaged. Chrome moly 87mm. The factory rings are available thru nismoparts.com-ask for Shea. I chose the chrome moly because I am going to abuse the poor engine!! Darrel
  2. I am looking at the rings today. I need to get the engine done asap. As usual, other things have come up and slowed things up. Just finished an sr20det swap in my son's 240sx. As soon as I find rings I will do a post. Darrel
  3. It's good to be a pack rat? I found the boxes for the pistons. Nismo part number 12010-p8617. They are cast but I have seen them in abused race engines that seem to last for a long time. Try nismoparts.com E-mail Shea-He is our parts guy I got them from. Darrel
  4. Thanks for the reply's. I did some more research today-don't tell the boss. Looks like I am going with the e88, machine off 20-30 thousands (and cam tower shims) and some large valves. I can do the porting. By the way, I have used Delta cams in several chevy v8's I have built and a Toyota race motor. Anyone looking for good cams, rockers.. at a good price. These are the guys. They have stock to wild grinds -deltacam.com. As far as the pistons-I work at a Subaru/Nissan store and they were out of the nismo book-got a good price:biggrin: Thanks again, Darrel
  5. Just mocked-up my new L28 block: balanced everything, Nismo domed pistons, Carillo rods, Aluminum Flywheel... I have recently run out of available cash: had some set aside to race on this year. Daughter and 2 grandsons moving back in-there goes the race money!! What is the best cylinder head to put together? I have 3-e88 heads, 1-n42, and one n-47? Is there a best combination from the above (e88 with larger valves from another?). Fuel requirement be damned!!! Since it is not a street car, I will get the Trick fuel at the track. Porting and creating flow is not a problem. How much to machine off of the head? Camshaft stand spacers available? I plan on high compression and basically no idle. Please help-the engine in the car now no longer turns MY crank. Thanks, Darrel Keep the shiney side up!
  6. I tried 142 a/c: 140 mph, both windows taken out!!!!! I will try the rain-x. I know the first few races in the spring will be wet. Thanks, Darrel
  7. Odd question here-it's ok to laugh. I take public humiliation pretty well. Here in the Northwest, we deal with a lot of rain. We also race in the rain. I have not figured out how to keep my windshield from fogging horribly on the inside when I am on the track. Air tubes from the outside blowing on the windshield? Rain-x on the inside??? Help! Wiping the windshield with my hand (loose harness and all) at full tilt on the straight raises the pucker factor a little to high. The interrior is gutted to the point of only having gauges on an aluminum plate so the engine heat comes thru the firewall. HELP! Thanks, Darrel
  8. The instructions indicated torque to 60 with supplied moly lube. Just opened the box last night. Darrel
  9. 8-)savageskaterkid, Checked the ARP head stud kit I have and the head stud set says torque to 60. Hope this helps, Darrel
  10. Sorry about the 2 posts. I did not think the first one went thru-not so computer smart. As for head stud torque, I can check tonight (the head studs are at home) Darrel
  11. Hey Naviathan, March seems like a long time to me as well. BUT, I still have to finish installing the new fuel cell, repair the brakes (ran my last race with no rear brakes-scary but fun), finish the engine...I also want to get my 1973 Celica project done by summer (2rz turbo swap). Eastern Carolina? I was born in Fayettville and have family all over. Wish I was there!!!! It is cold at night in the garage here in Washington!! Darrel
  12. Hey Naviathan, March seems like a ways off to me to. BUT, I realized I still need to fix the brakes (ran my last race with front brakes only!), finish installing the new fuel cell.... And the list goes on. I also want to finish my old Celica project by summer as well. But we love long nights in the garage. Your post says eastern Carolina. Where? I was born in Fayettville and have family all over. Wish I was there and not in COLD Washington!!! Darrel --Turbocharging 2rz in my 1973 Celica and my son's ka24e-1989 240sx. Working at a Subaru store has benefits (buy turbo's and intercoolers from customers who upgrade-stupid cheap!)
  13. Thanks for the help. Only have until March to get the new engine completed!! Darrel
  14. :mrgreen:Howdy to all. New to the forum. Embarrasssed as well-The machinist lost the instruction sheet with the ARP main studs. Please help on correct install (lube on end going into block?) and torque spec. (L28). Thanks Darrel
