  1. Looking for either. Good valves a must, with or without cam. P90a should include the pivots...Thanks. madolive3@yahoo.com
  2. My 77 died on me. I have blue spark and when I close the contact in the afm, I get fuel. When I crank the motor, there doesn't seem to be enough vacuum to open the afm flap. The needle on my Vac guage just kind of shakes between 3 and 4 while I crank. I removed the afm and it looks fine, the flap operates normaly. I checked for vac leaks and the afm boots. It started while I was test driving, and the car was running great. I just lost all engine power for an instant and then was fine. This happened a few more times and then it happened and didn't come back. Stock 77 P79 with a turbo, turbo afm with the stock 77 guts swapped in. Dizzy from an zx with an E12-80 module. Timing at 30, mech advance disabled. 77 intake and throttlebody. 2.5 inch exhaust all the way back. Stock Boost. Running awsome when it happened two days ago, still won't start. C.R 148, 145, 140, 145, 140, 145 1 thru 6. Thanks. I searched here and read that the ign mod could be bad and still provide spark, but the afm flap doesn't move.
  3. I have a 77 that I've turboed. F54, N47, 83 turbo injectors, afm with the guts removed and the 77 afm guts installed. stock boost. This setup was running pretty good for about 5 months or so. I parked after a short trip and 5 mins later I tried to restart and it barley ran. White smoke from the tail pipe. Nursed it home and discovered oil coming out of the wastegate shaft bung. 6" pool of oil under the joint where the downpipe connects to the after exhaust . I've rebiult the turbo twice and it hasn't had an effect. I pulled the head off and I can't see any compromise in the HG. Not sure what's going on. The cylinders look normal except that the tops of the pistons 1&2 look wet, 1 more so than 2. I've picked up a P79, I'll install it and try again. Could it be that I need a restrictor in the oil feed? I've check and recheck the oil drain and it's unobstructed. I've searched and posted on Z-car. searched here on Hybrids although I'm not as good searching here. Thanks for any help on this.....Bill
  4. I have a couple of T3 Turbos, 1 from a 83ZXT the other one from an 86Z. The shafts are a different diameter where the bearing ride. The rebuild kits come with the larger sized bearings. Can anyone tell me how to find the smaller bearings?
  5. I just installed mine a few days ago. I'll post some pics later. It's bolted up and it seems to me that it's uncomfortably close to the Trans. I don't know if mine was welded up a little off or if the distance is normal. There's about 1/8 of an inch or less clearance between the Pipe and the bulge in the Bell housing where the transmition bolt is. Other than that it seems fine, the O2 bung is a little closer to the Turbo than the wideband guys would probably like. I used the O2 bung for my EGR tube.
  6. I'm relatively new to this forum and I haven't mastered the search function yet, but I did try. This is not a which one is better question..... My question is for you CA. S30 owners. I have a 77 that I will be putting a 83 l28et into. I would like to be able to boost up to 14-15 psi. Of course at those levels I have to cool the charge. I don't think an IC will pass a visual here in CA. I know there are some CA guys here with IC, how do you do it relative to smog? I'm thinking a Ho2 inject system would be less noticable and take up less room under the hood.... Thanks Bill
  7. I have these old wheels, they where on my 77 when I aquired it. Can anyone identify these for me?? Anyway, I like the look of these and I wanted to keep them but they were in bad shape. I set about trying to clean them up, I tried polishes, grinding and acid, nothing worked. I remembered my little sand blaster and dug it out. I blasted the rough parts of the wheel and used a wire brush on a drill for the raised or smooth parts of the wheel. I will be coating the wheels with POR15 glisten coat satin. Here are the results These wheels essentialy look new. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2606649/7
  8. On the Front Bumper,I used the 77 mounts. I removed the pistons from them and cut about 1.5 inches off the end of the tubes. I welded plates on the ends of the empty piston tubes and drilled holes for the Bumper mount bolts. On the rear, I removed the whole piston assembly and sealed the hole just as Dave did. I welded my mounts directly to the tow hooks. The Bumper ends, I fabbed some plates and welded them to the bolt bracket inside the ends themselves. I cut a notch on the bottom of the bumper ends so I can tighten the mounting bolt into the existing holes on the 77. If anyone wants pics of this e-mail me, I'll be glad to send them....madolive3@yahoo.com
