  1. Looks great! Are you considering doing the defroster vent piece as well?
  2. I brushed on as well, in stages working from one side to the other. Tape was removed after the fibers were applied.
  3. I used blue painters tape to get a clean edge in some of the more difficult areas of a door panel. I removed the tape before a full cure, but did let it sit long enough to tack up. Seemed to work fine, although the piece had a natural edge to help guide the separation of adhesive on the panel and that on the tape. I don't imagine it would be any different when on a single panel, but testing on your practice piece might be worthwhile. Biggest issue was angle of attack... Oh, and don't get impatient like I did, and rush the install. Until it fully cures it can easily be scrapped off and repairs are annoyingly visible in certain light. In reality, I would have waited a good week for a cure, but I needed the car by Monday, and it took all day Saturday just to remove it in the first piece...
  4. I've done a dash before (with the hand kit, not the fancy compressor driven flocker), my only recommendation is to have the dash on a rotating rig, and only shoot downwards. You are only planning to do the top so it shouldn't be a problem, but if you spray parallel to the ground the fibers have a tendency to lay down and you'll get inconsistent texture.
  5. Longshot I know, but does anybody have an older Greddy/Trust manual boost controller (MBC) for sale? Trying to find something more period correct for my 240z turbo build. All the flashy anodized ones are nice (and probably better in the end), but they just don't fit with the rest of the build. Might be interested in other brands, if you've got something that fits the bill.
  6. Looking for a stock L28ET exhaust manifold heat shield. There are a few on eBay for $30, but I'd rather the cash go to a member here (especially if they beat that price ). PayPal preferred. Picture for reference. Thanks all for looking!
  7. Sure it's not the front sump? I know some of the wagons have the kick outs, but from what I've seen they are exclusively front sump.
  8. Thought that looked like the DP racing pan. I'm hoping to do something similar, but without the price tag and plating... Looks very sharp, eager to see it all go in. Builds with good photography are always more fun to follow! Are you using a tilt shift lense for some of these?
  9. Curious what the cost of the modified pan was? I'm looking at doing something similar soon.
  10. Overkill for my needs, not to mention the $499 would be better spent elsewhere in my case. The LD pan seems like a nice affordable midway point, however finding one in this format isn't exactly easy.
  11. Hi all, I'm searching for a rear/mid-sump LD28 oil pan with the factory 'kick outs' (little wings on the side, that increase the pans capacity). Associated oil pickup tube would be a plus. From what I can gather these are primarily found on industrial use LD28s (i.e. forklift, marine pumps, etc.) Not currently interested in modifying a front sump pan, or any home grown creations. Thanks for looking Photos for reference: (Thanks rayaapp2 for the photo of the pan going into the S30 chassis)
  12. Late 280z. The amount of work/money it takes to swap 240z style bumpers is minimal, and it is more structurally sound, which helps when adding frame twisting torque. Oh, and they've had less time to rust!
  13. +1, a few shots of PB blaster might be a good idea too. One little job turns into a big one if you break a bolt off in the head...
  14. Not too much work, just two bolts holding the top half to the bottom, and two more to the head. Two gaskets, possibly sealer and anti-seize are required. Honestly, most issues arise from the age of the parts. Sensor wires become brittle, terminal ends fatigue and poor coolant mixture leads to corrosion. You've already learned how the old aluminum seems to get brittle over time! Post in the parts wanted section, plenty of these floating around. I may even have an extra... time to dig in the spares bin!
  15. Save the series 1, let the Camaro go, no need to keep that sort of negative memory in your life. If the itch to do an engine swap is persistent then find a different candidate. Z values are going up, and you will only regret killing it's value for an oddball swap.
  16. I think I paid somewhere in the neighborhood of $70 for the small fin version... Seems like a junkyard trip is in order if they've gone up this much.
  17. Still have it. Shoot me a PM with your zip code and I'll get you a shipping quote.
  18. I'm not sure on the RB engines, but isn't this likely an interference fit? Perhaps throwing the tube in the freezer and heating the block would do the trick?
  19. Priced around $350 with additional bosses for a cooler, temp sensor and an option for R180 stud spacing (to utilize the 240z mustache bar) would sell like hotcakes... $600 is pretty high for what is notoriously a frugal crowd... Perhaps the Z33/Z34 market might be more amicable to that figure? Just my .2, I'd love to see these get made, though I don't need one myself.
