  1. well i havent had any problems since. well my car would not turn on unless i poked at those wires with a tester. the pointy one that you clip to a ground and the light comes on. so far it has worked without doing that. thanx i havent checked my emails since.
  2. need to locate source of these wires, they are causing me problems. for some reason they are not getting any current and they are giving me starting problems. what is the green wire and what is the red +,-, please advice. oh and it's a 77 280z.
  3. according to the repair manual "intake backfire" is caused by improper ignition timing, or a defective EGR component, or defective TAC vacum motor or valve.? i have a 77 w/an L28 and all my starting problems have been due to a bad pick-up coil, and a loose fuse link. my symptoms for the pick up coil have been. shuting down when norm temp is reached2 not starting at all.or just running for a few minutes then just shuting down. and also cranking with no results. and for the fuse it has been gagues not working when you turn the key.
  4. yeah i had a loose one a month or so ago, and it caused a short and all my light bulbs blew out. so make sure when you put the new fuse links that they are tight. squeeze the plugs on the links a little that will help.
  5. after you drop that tank, if it still dont work try the pick-up coil. its cheap only 30 bucks and easy.
  6. im not sure if a 75 has a pick-up coil thou. but yeah check that. it sounds like the same symptoms as mine had. everything is still stock on it to and i am in love with it.
  7. i have a77 280. i got it not running thought it was the fuel pump, the filter, the air sensor, and all kind of other stuff. it would start then when it got to temp just shut off. and some times it wouldn't start. turned out to be the pick-up coil. changed that and have had no problems since. except for a bad volt regulator.
  8. problem solved thanx everyone, it was a loose fuselink wire and bad regulator.
  9. yeah i can check for spark. i had trouble with the pick up coil a few months back. that would keep it from starting. my volt meter stays on/active when the car is off thou. it does not go back all the way unless i remove that fuse link? next to the battery. is that normal?
