  1. also look at where your timing is and check your vacuume lines where they go and if there is a vacuume leak.
  2. Sounds like a fuel delivery prob. to me. Did u check your float levil in those su carbs ? take pics of the carbs and post em ! I'm shure someone else will chime in !
  3. ok ... what do u think about the corvette subframe idea ? ... johnc
  4. johnc- all im saying is that its not as bad as thanick is saying, and it would prolly be better than what the z car suspension is stock. ... that is if it were even feesable to do ... if it wernt too much fab work. i know the fox suspension isnt that good.
  5. and they are doing it with a live axle in the rear !!!
  6. thenick- i dont know how much you know about the fox body suspension, but you might want to do some research on it, as there are guys doing over 1 lateral g in the skid pad with that suspension in mustangs, and there all using bolt on parts to do it. ... i was the one who suggested the corvette suspension by the way.
  7. johnc- thats exactly what i was thinking... the tubular k-frame and lower control arms, and then you could also use the mustang sway bars(wouldnt take too much fab work), there is a ton of options for sway bars then, and the 4.6 and 5.0 guys could bolt in theyr motors, the other guys would need to fab some motor mounts but that aint all that hard, and youd get the big ball joints, brakes, and all the aftermarket support for the mustang. im not talking about the mustang II suspension ! ... that suspension sucks... im talking about the newer 82-93 suspension with the single lower control arm, strut, and seperate coil spring. not what mikedc528 found on the heidts web sight. guys go look at corral.net !!!
  8. thenick- then hav u thought about the 97 to new corvette front subframe? it is aluminum, and has all 4 control arms and transverse leif springs in it the only bracket youd hafto make is to mount the upper shock bolt, and it would be relativly cheep in the junkyards or ebay, that is if it were as wide as the framerails on the z... that was gonna be my other suggestion/question. mikedc528- i would think it would make the z car handle more like a fox body mustang. i do know that there are some road racing guys with fox mustangs, and they do pretty well. thecorral.net is a forum just like this one for mustangs, and there is plunty of fox info on there, go check it out.
  9. has annyone done the measuring to se if the 82-93 ford mustang k-member would fit under a z car? of course it would take some welding and fab work... but if it wernt too bad ... it would be worth it because ud get the cobra big brakes and all the aftermarket tubular a-arms and coil overs and the ps rac and pinion. just wondering ??????????????????????????????
  10. thanks for all the help guys ... we put the new berings from black draggon( they were beckarnley berrings by the way) in today, and they were ausome, fit like a glove, the only thing that hung us up was the outer berrings had to be pressed on and off, wich we just took em to pep boys and they did it for 20$, the hole kitten kabootle only took us like 2 hours in my garrage. thanks again for all the help and suggestions!!!!!
  11. thanks for the replies guys !!! i apricate it !!! this is why this sight rules soo much!
  12. hay guys ... ive done a search and cant find anny thing ... where can i fing some good prices on rear wheel berrings ? and are they pressed on ... do i halfto use a press to replace them ? is there annything i should know for doing them? ive got a 73 240 and its my first z car ... these cars are aussome!!! annyways anny help would be greatly apricated ... thanks
  13. or ? ... how about using the fox body mustang k-member? then you could use the control arms, spindle, rac n pinion, brakes, and strut from the mustang also. u could also do the aftermarket tubular k-member.
  14. i was even thinking of using the corvette rear transaxle and shortening the torque tube betwine the engine and trans,to give better weight distrabution. if your willing to modify the firewall that much you might as well do the rear suspesion also. then you might be able to use the corvette rear and front suspension too.
  15. hay guys ! this is my first post here. i joined just because of this thread. and had to chime in. .... so how about using the subframe from a solstace or view,or maybe a vette. i know they are cast alluminum and you could posision it forward or back an inch or so. you would prolly hafto still cut the stock oil pan up but it may give you some room to play and its got the power rac and pinion bolted on alredy. just my 2 cents
