  1. I just bought a 280z from ebay and had it delivered last night. It was supposed to run great and it starts up well but won't change gears when the car is running. I had to put it in first, start the car, move, shut off the car, shift to reverse, start the car, move. Any ideas? I'll take a look at the clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder when i get off work and there is alot of play in the shifter so maybe i'll get some bushings too.
  2. I'm looking for a windshield for a 75 280Z 2-seater, both scuff panels (i think that is what they are called - they hold the floor carpeting to the door bottom - not the part that says "datsun" on it) and the arm rests for both doors. I broke the bolts (sheared the heads right off) on my thermostat housing - bought a used set and did it again. So i am looking for the thermostat housing bottom and top, already disconnected, lol. If anybody has some sitting around i want it. Im also looking for a decent condition tire well as mine has some rust. thanks!
  3. Looking for a project Z car, any 75 and older will due, but might consider a smogged 76+. I'm centrally located in Pismo beach CA - anywhere in CA is fine, might even consider other states for the right project. Looking under 4K at the moment.
  4. Thanks for the link - i did read that process but its a little over my head. For one - i am not sure what "backlash" is? I was hoping there was something with pictures or diagrams or a tutorial for the diff newbie. thanks,
  5. I just picked up a 76 r200 and a brand new quafe LSD. I've never opened up a diff before - any recommendations? Can anybody point me to a how-to? thanks
  6. Thanks so much for the help - it gives me a good place to start looking. It is much appreciated.
  7. So at idle its running about 35, when i unplug the vacum line it bumps up to about 40, but as soon as i turn off the engine it drops to less than 15 instantly. When i turn the key on, the fuel pump runs and pressure is about 40, but as soon as the fuel pump stops is drops to below 15 instantly again. It also looks to be an aftermarket part.
  8. Thanks for the heads up, i'll give it a google. Actually - they have a fuel pressure gauge installed in the engine bay - is there a number is should be?
  9. Hopefully somebody can help me with this - the LT1 is hard starting in the mornings. I turn on the ignition and the fuel pump runs for about seconds, the car starts up pretty quickly but doesn't have enough gas to keep it going and will stall out. I turn the key on and off to cycle the pump a few times and it helps but still not enough. Is there a way to make the pump cycle longer? Should i install a larger pump? any input is appreciated. thanks
  10. Cool, i'm interested - can you send me a picture? I tend to make it to LA every couple of weeks.
  11. I'm looking to refresh my suspension for my 75 280z. Looking for coilover and aftermarket control arms, preferable techno toy tuning but open to other brands. I'm also looking for an R200 to swap in for my stock R180. Let me know if you have anything that you are looking to get rid of. I do have so parts to trade if you are looking for Retro-spec fender flares, 240z calipers, 240z inspection lids. thanks
  12. I just picked up this badboy about 2 weeks ago. Runs strong and shifts smooth. Has a Corvette LT1 engine with matching 4-speed auto, engine has intake, larger throttle body, competition cams, headers, power steering. Suspension is okay, seems to have been refreshed at somepoint but I'm thinking of going the coilover route and some aftermarket control arms to push back the rear wheel a little. Also looking to change out the wheels at some point but one of the biggest disappointments is the stock R180 with Open diff. Whats the cheapest way to get an LSD in here, i think its a 3.54 and seems to work pretty well for all around driving running about 2500 RPM at 80 mph but i'm not opposed to a 3.7. I'm considering welding the 180 to keep it intact while i figure out a r200 LSD swap. Any advice is appreciated.
  13. Great! Thanks for the help. I'll probably get to it over the Tday break.
  14. Thanks for the response. I went ahead and picked up the mishimoto - now i just need to get around to installing it. I'm assuming i should use it as a stand-alone cooler - and not hook it up through the radiator?
  15. Any thoughts on if this would solve my 'no transmission cooler' problem? I'm looking for something to get me by until i can switch to the 5-speed. https://www.americanmuscle.com/mishimoto-auto-trans-cooler.html
  16. Family life and motorcycle priorities kept me away from the Z but I'm hoping to finally get the wheels back on this weekend. I decided to watch my budget and try to keep the mods in control which is really against my nature. Meaning I'm still pouring money into it but decided not to go to coilovers or aftermarket control arms, rods, ect. I Rebuilt the rear suspension a couple months ago. New poly bushings all around, blasted and painted the everything, Vogtland lowering springs w/ stagg shocks. The new wheels and tires were rubbing on the old suspension and are still rubbing so picked up a fender roller and am hoping to fix that. (picture is before lowering springs). The front gets the same new shock/springs, bushings, blasting & paint, TC rods got the radial bearings, new wheels bearings, stoptech rotors, SW-8 calipers, Silver Mine pads, steel lines, ball joints and tie-rods.
  17. Thanks for the heads up, I walked into O'Reillys and it was 40 bucks OTD, should be in store in 2 days and i'm hoping to get everything installed this weekend. That does look nice - hopefully i won't be dissappionted in the O'Reilly rebuild. Will the reservoirs from the original 240Z fit?
  18. I have a 240Z and switching to the s12-8 Toyota calipers and the how-to mentioned the change to a 15/16 master from the years 79-81. I personally don't know what changed.
  19. As the title states, looking for a 79-81 brake master cylinder. let me know if you have a spare lying around. thanks!
  20. So, I'm an ******* - i actually need the FRONT-RIGHT strut housing. the original post has been edit to reflect.
  21. I just need the bottom housing part, pictures would be great. thanks.
  22. Looking for a FRONT-RIGHT strut housing for my 1973 240Z. Anybody have one lying around? I have a nice set of inspection lids - primered and ready to go if you are interested in a trade - or of course, CASH. Thanks FOUND! thanks HybridZ and Z240!
