  1. Ok guys, I know this topic has been beat to death and finding a clear cut answer with the search engine has beaten me to death too. Here goes. Im running a 96 LT1 in my 280Z. Im going carbureated. I only want to use the crank and the alternator. Im using a electric water pump so thats no big deal. My question is, has anyone found a bracket that will work on a 280Z that will allow you to run an alternator/crank pulley only? God I hope so. Im dead set on a carb setup because A) Its a lot neater in the engine bay. B) Ive already got everything to do it (carb, intake mani, dizzy, and opti hole plug and so on). Thank you so much. BTW HYBRIDZ ROCKS

I got a billet part from Summit. some thing like PSR or the like i can't remember right now the exact name.

but it was a quality part and worked with my electric water pump with a little modification.

I'll be going to the car storage later to get the Z out and look for a name on the part if you like.

  2. Why not punch a good factory 010 block out for your current internals? Have it

It isnt an aftermarket block, but there aren't any sleeves, it has the 'high' nickel content, and also has 4 bolt mains.

For the price of the dart block you could buy ten 010 blocks and have them all tested at your machine shop.

I agree the 010"casting #" is a great block and can handle up to .040 in high horse numbers, they made some in 2bolt main so you will have to look for the four bolt stuff. the nickel caps are the bomb!

IIRC the really good ones where outfitted in boats.

  3. Buy the book instead, the author encourages you to do it yourself. He supplies drawings for all parts required and makes suggestions where to find the material needed. My intent was not to profit from a ripped off a design but to truly diy. I make a lot of my own parts, for me, it's part of the building experience.

    I did,

If you got the book you'll have the measurments.

  4. So, I got the MSD Hei distributor installed, and MAAAAN is it NIIICE. Easy to install. I have enough clearance to the firewall, but I cannot use my JTR hood latch mount. The plunger from the hood smacks into the ignition coil unit on top of the distributor cap.

Now, I'm looking for hood pins. Anybody have suggestions on where to mount them exactly? Also, what are some good value hood pins? I'd like them black, but I can paint over any other finish.

I ground My plunger down a bit so it would clear the cap.

Is the MSD cap larger than the stock cap? It seems to Me the high performance coils are the same size under the fancy cap, maybe you could swap the two.

  5. I'm sure that burnouts are no problem! :2thumbs: Car does look REALLY nice...

That place must be your "private testing grounds." Nice to have those kinds of places available for "testing," no? :D

Ya "private" :P Old industrial sub-division that, well just never took-off.

about half a mile from the shop, so ya we spend sometime there.

  6. So far so good with it running well, I'll see about some dyno time soon but it is what it is!
