  1. I am wondering if it is absolutely necessary to go the route of swapping out the smaller bearing for the larger 71c bearing. I have been told by others that it wasn't. I have looked at that great write up by Nigel, with intentions of installing an s14 5speed from a 98' black top front clip, with a early 280z bellhousing. Hopefully not jacking the thread, just looking for opinions on this step.

  2. I have yet to run this setup as my car is in pieces, but talking with Austin(240hoke) who made this downpipe, I recall he was very pleased with the results. This is his old setup including the turbo and downpipe. I had my stock manifold modified to match the tial 38mm wastegate to the small pipe. He has a video on here somewhere of the car making some pulls both from inside and out. I know that does not definitely answer your question, just showing what some others have done.

  3. Yasin,

Your car and a few other members zx's on here have completely changed my mind on the zx platform. I have a friend back home in NC with a slick top whom I've told to give me first crack at it if he ever parts with it. Yeah, real smart thinking here, start a new project without even finishing the first, can we say Dat addiction. Anyways, when you get it all sorted, please make a video of it ripping down the street. Yes, for now I live vicariously through others builds.

  4. ZT-R,

I have the evo 9 recaro's going into my car build. I took a different approach however. I was having new floors and frame rails installed and went with a new, shorter seat base and custom seat adaptor to use the stock mitsu sliders. I am only 5-8", but putting these on the stock seat floor rails had me very close to the roof, as most seats swapped onto the stock rails do.

  5. I have had a local shop to me (Wholesale dealers painting products inc) suggest a 3m product, acrylic plus tape for external moldings. I was inquiring about attatching the rear fiberglass subtle z quarters and was guided to a gun applied 3m adhesive for my application. I have not used either of these products so I can not say without a shadow of a doubt that they work as advertised, but have had nothing but good results using 3m products. I intend on purchasing the gun and adhesive when the time comes to apply the rear quarters.

On a side note, would love to see more pics and video of your car. It has to one of the cleanest modified zx's I have seen. I can't count how many times I have watched your youtube vids.

  6. Still hoping that you would seriously consider making the top steering column clamshell with a centered, rounded 2-1/16" gauge provision for a boost or air/fuel gauge, with turn signal indicators for those of us that have changed to aftermarket speedo/tach's.

  7. My opinion and vote goes for hanging in there and riding out the rough times now. With all that you have mentioned, it would seem to be in the final stages that one big push to make enough momentum to keep you stoked on the project. You have come this far, why not at least get that chance to grin from ear to ear while chirping wheels into 2nd. I find a lot of similarities (minus the kids aspect) with my situation and am just pushing on through with the project no matter how long it takes(three years + now). I feel as if I have invested so much time, money and blood sweat & tears into this that I just could not wash my hands of it at this point. All that plus I just plain love everything about the s30, it's such an iconic and classic sports car and looks fast, and curvacious just sitting still. Stick it out, complete it and enjoy, or sell and experience sellers remorse shortly after. Maybe you could plan out a week of work off or extended weekends here and there to make some head way and keep the passion alive. Just throwing out my thoughts....

  8. Mike,

Your car just keeps on looking nicer and nicer every time I see it. One of my good friends from Hampstead, NC, texted me about that unexpected earthquake. I grew up in NC, until 96' and never experienced one on the east coast, but more than made up for it in the past 10 years here in California...
