  1. Hey all, looking for a used/new/spare aftermarket header (or perhaps full system?) for my L24. Not concerned with brand, just not rusted or broken. My stock exhaust is shot and it would make life easier to go aftermarket. Shipping to NC 28411 and I would like to use paypal. Pics and price to bstznut@hotmail.com Thank you!
  2. So i just got a 240z for my senior project and the internals of my stock flat top carbs are wrecked. I really dont have the funding for a new set of round top carbs right now so im desperately searching for some working flat tops or round tops! either works for me as long as i can get my z running. Let me know what you have!
  3. First post and thought I would start it off by saying Hi and introducing the '73 240z I picked up yesterday. I have lots of plans but I want to go through and make sure I neutralize any rust first. Seems to be very very minimal from what I have seen thus far. I hope to get more pictures up soon and possibly a multi year build log. Previously owned a '93 rx-7 heavily modded but after apex seal after apex seal, kids, house, I gave up on cars. Fast forward 10 years and I have something to play with again. Hope to make it a daily driven road car. When I say daily driven I mean weekend driver at most. I have a Rav 4 for my daily kid hauler. My 10 year old son is already looking forward to helping me wrench on this thing.
  4. This is my new baby(AND GRAND BABY'S), thanks to my wife, it's my birthday present, came off the trailer just before i had to leave for work tonight. So i still haven't had time to really check it out. I drove it around the block everything so far seems nice and tight for a quick inspection. Overall very happy cant wait to get registered
  5. Hello, About a year ago, someone broke into my Z and trashed/stole a lot of the interior. I have a long way to go, but right now I am hunting down an OEM wooden steering wheel. If any of your are selling one, and you're not asking an arm/leg for it, PM me please. Thank you, Idiot Pic for reference
  6. I'm looking for a 5-spd transmission from a 280z to put into my 240z. Where is the best place to find one (or do you have one for sale) ? I browsed through ebay and craigslist but didn't really find anything. Also noticed that neither MSA nor Whitehead carry them. Thank you!
  7. I'm working on a 72' 240z (production date 11/71). I'm looking for a decent set of brackets and rubber grommets for the fuel/brake headlines. Reply here or PM me, thanks.
  8. Hi Everyone! I'm new to the forum and looking to buy a 240z. However, I do not have much mechanical knowledge when it comes to cars. I've been reading and reading and it seems like when looking for a Z, the number one thing I keep reading is to avoid rust as much as possible. I found a 1973 240z for sale locally and wanted some advice on this car. It definitely has rust but I have no idea how much is repairable. I have about a $30k budget, but I'd like to spend about $5-8k for the car and then budget for a minor restoration (get it in good running condition, paint, wheels, and an interior clean up). I am not a mechanic in the least and would be relying on a local mechanic to do a majority of the work. Here is what the seller told me: I'm not in a hurry to get a Z and can afford to take my time to get the right one. I thank you in advance, any/all help is appreciated. ad: http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/doc/cto/5132503075.html pics: http://imgur.com/a/5jFXg
  9. I'm looking for the cheapest way to get a "good" (you know... not out of round and such) set of wheels. I figure a set of steelies would be my best bet. I have one already (the spare), so I only really need three but would prefer four. I also don't need tires, mine are very fresh. I have a "set" of 4 slotted mags. (Only 2 of them appear to be identical) Aesthetically, I think they're awesome. Mechanically, they kinda suck. One of them is out of round, so I'm using my one steely. I'd like them to match it. They're all the same right? A set of four that match each other is fine too. If anything will be a deal breaker here, it'll probably be shipping. I have no idea what it costs to ship three or four of these things. I'm in north Alabama. I'd be willing to drive a few hours to pick 'em up if I get that lucky. Thanks for viewing!
  10. Hey guys, This is the journey of my 1974 Datsun 260z to where it currently stands and where it is headed. I hope you enjoy! This was the car when I first got it... It was a good running car that was fairly "clean" with the exception of some hidden rust. I drove the car like this for a couple of years before I really got the itch to modify it. To start things off, my carbs started leaking so I rebuilt the round top already on the car. The outcome: Nice new carbs and a sad looking engine bay. (Ignore the wheel in the background, we will get to those later...) With the production of the BC Racing coilovers, I decided it was time to pull the car apart for a few updates in the winter of 2014/2015. It would share a space with an old Austin Healey Mini for the winter. With it up on Jack stands, the intentions were to go through the bushings, suspension and address the rear brakes. Along the Way I also picked up a set of Wilwoods for the front which are still having brackets fabricated. I acquired a Silvermine rear disc brake conversion, BC Racing coilovers, & some Prothane Bushings and work began. With all of the parts acquired that I wanted/needed for the winter ahead, I came across a pretty rair set of wheels that I would snatch up: 15x9 3-Piece Revolution RFX's that the previous owner had painted the faces of a House of Kolors Green. At first, I hated the color of the wheels but they have since grown on me a bit. With everything ready for the winter project, I started tearing the car apart... [/url With all of the suspension pulled off and the struts sectioned, I started assembling the front coilovers. The shop I had weld them had some pretty ugly welds that I ended up having to grind down. I also wire-wheeled the knuckle assembly and painted it for a nice finished look. I also went on ahead and wire-wheeled and painted the brake dust shields while I was at it... Finished Products:

  15. I was planning for a while to swap RB25/30 NA setup but after reviewing it a lot working with different heads and lack of upgraded cams in some heads dropped the idea. Moved to VQ35DE/HR for which wiring is a bit of a pain but then couldnt find HR engine and where I found with online wiring service (2k$) and engine cost over all project costs jumped. So in between talking to few installer came across something unusual and interesting taking it as a challenge. VQ30DET, its a rare engine same quad cams but block is much stronger then VQ35 and low compression as it comes with a turbo from factory. It is fitted to the following vehicles: 1995–2004 Nissan Gloria Y33,Y34 1995–2004 Nissan Cedric Y33,Y34 1997–1999 Nissan Leopard Y33 2001–present Nissan Cima F50 As per some forums stock engine is running on 5-6psi and gives around 280hp and turbo can go easily upto 14psi before playing with the wastegate and power can go upto 350ish but still needs to be checked, as people are running cars upto 500whp on stock block and its holding great so there is good potential in the engine. Being a destroked version compared to VQ35 its revs better as well. One other things which my mechanic said engine is without VVT so can change the cam gears as well if needed along with cams maybe for future. After looking for a while found one here, as per Air flow meter clips seems like came out of 2002-2006 model Nissan Cima here it is Bought the whole things with 8 speed CVT gearbox lol, and engine mounts sway bars and most importantly ECU and harness. Was lucky found a CD009 gearbox out of 2006 JDM 350z as well. Covers removed from engine There will be alteration needed in cross member, whole exhaust manifold on engine and might need to move the turbo a bit as well. I opened up the engine so do some colours and for some porting the exhaust and intake inlets, engine was clean but too much slug inthe oil sump seems like car was running on those 30k limited oil, but compression came out good. Only problem was turbo came out broken one fan was missing so will change that from the shop got the engine. Fan was chocked and one side one is missing, as for the size seems bigger then RB25 turbo more like GT25 series size. Engine opened up Intake and TB Lower intake manifold These are parts I dropped for chroming will do a contrast in these three Pulleys as well for chroming (sample chrome piece on left side )
  16. Long time lurker turned builder. This thread will be slowly updated and the build may not be the most interesting, but I'd like to share/document. I've used this site for ideas and daydreams for about 8 years, so thanks everyone! My canvas is a 1970 series 1 240z with period modifications. Today was the first day I actually started work on the car, previously I was just trying to get the car running a little better by cleaning and rough tuning the carbs. I started by removing the previous owner's attempt at making a floor.... This left an even larger hole in the floor, perfect for cooling you down on a hot summer's day. The floors were cut out when I bought it and 2x3 frame tubing welded from the TC bracket to the rear rails. Unfortunately the rails were not even close to level, so that had to be fixed. One side almost leveled, but the floor and main frame rails are just the beginning... Time to save up a bit to buy an engine hoist.
  17. Hey guys here's my Z I picked up saturday! This is in addition to my dads project Z which is getting the full AZC susp. and other crazy stuff- this will be a little more modest as I don't have that kinda money to throw at this car hahaha 1973 240z, odo says 26,XXX so who knows how many miles. PO put what look like Konig rewinds? with new tires, 280z front brakes, and some poly bushings front and rear. lights/air/signals work which is nice. Covered in what appears to be black primer but body is very straight and frame rails, under hatch, and under body are essentially rust free which is why i jumped on this car. Car isn't running that great but I think most of that could be optimized by tuning the carbs. My other car is an '82 242 turbo so I'm not too familiar with carbs, better start learning. plans include: coils (either GC weld in or Megan weld in from mckinney motor sports) and camber plates finish off poly bushings where needed adjustable TC/LCA adjustable RLCA zg flares resized jdm wheels- longchamps, equip 01/03, ssr mk1/2/3, etc imsa 3 piece tail front airdam future motor swap Saving up funds from my summer job so progress should start in the coming week or two. 18. I am located in San Diego, California. Just picked up an amazingly clean and taken care of 1970 complete shell. Long story short it came with almost nothing for the Interior but wiring harness. In addition the hatch somehow flew off as the previous owner transported it. So I bought it as is. Currently in search of cosmetics for it. - Series One hatch (with vents and vertical defrosting lines) - VENTED 76-78 280z hood (with vents attached) - set of tail lights (with bulbs & pigtails if possible) - dashboard - center console - ZG flares In addition to the previous short list. I realized after further inspection and cleaning that the cars suspension and underbelly was pieced together and held mostly by steel zip ties basically just enough to load on to the flat bed and transportation but overall it's missing a ton of various bolts. So basically if someone has a spare bucket full of datsun bolts and nuts that are for these cars that Include but not limited to (Control arms, tie rods, corner lights, fenders, bumpers, spindles, interior misc) they're willing to part with please do contact me as I made the mistake of leaving my huge huge protein bottle full of Z bolts and nuts on my last sold car. #EpicFail.
  19. How's it going, I picked up a '71 240z the other day. When I got back to town I stopped by the local gas station and began fueling up, right when I topped her off fuel flushed out from what looked to be under the tank. Talk about nerve racking! It was a nice puddle, and then leaked steadily for around 10 minutes or so, and eventually stopped. For the next couple days I drove around and every time I stopped (be it at a light or parking lot) there would be a tiny amount of fuel dripping from again - what appears to be the bottom of the tank - then it would stop within a couple minutes. Now that my fuel is lower, she doesn't leak. Also my gauge isn't working so I can't tell you roughly how full it is. Whenever I put the smallest amount of fuel in her, I smell fuel from inside the car! I ordered all new vent hoses, I was going to drop the tank when they come in and see if I can identify the problem. I'm HOPING it's not the tank. I haven't ordered a new fuel filler hose, they're pretty expensive. I know there's a million posts out there on this, I've been searching. but since every case is slightly different, hopefully this will be helpful to someone with the same issue in the future! If you'd like to chime in and offer some much needed advise, I'd be thankful. -C

I havent seen anything about anyone trying it before. If that doesnt work, id do an rb26(i6), or an ls1(v8). Opinions:thoughts/knowledge is appreciated.
