Z car fans, Looking at different kits for my 73 240z. Need a kit for the street and occasional autocross. I received instructions for two different kits, and to my surprise they were the same instruction, and very poorly done. I've attached the instructions if anyone would like to take a look. Looked to me like it was translated from another language, probably Japanese. I'm basing my purchase on a lot of things, and one of them happens to be the fabrication/installation instructions. Can anyone share with me the BC Coilover instructions?? I contacted the mfg, and they have not disclosed the information yet. thanks, joe in SE WI NISSAN 280Z INSTRUCTION.pdf

I thought I would share some of the progress on my project RoninZ. Awhile back I wanted to do something different but still make my s30 handle better. Also wanted to find parts easily (cheaply). I asked and search for anyone that had done an s13 IRS swap into the s30 and found some old posts here in HZ and other forums. well I pulled the trigger and canibalized my s13 and put as much parts into the s30. The engine was going in also (sr20det) but that changed which is another topic. Anyway the IRS went in, a lot easier than I thought but, because of engine choice I couldn't use the s13 front suspension, and the z suspension was pitched. So, this brings me to this topic. I did some research and decided that I wanted to do the Double Wishbone/A-Arm suspension. I went with CA Chassishttps://www.cachassisworks.com/p-1556-a-arm-suspension-4x2-crossmember-custom-fit-factory-welded-crossmember-only.aspx Here is the crossmember with the disc before install on frame Here is the top view after install and fenders refabbed. Here is the A-Arms from underneath It included a manual rack and pinion The kit included double adjustable Coilovers and 13"Wilwood brakes (overkill?) Still at the shop and has not been on the road yet. I am hoping to go on Road courses with this car this summer. Thanks guys

Hello Hybrid Z I own an 83' 280zx with a 2jz vvti, its going through a restoration now, I have most parts for the restoration, just missing on suspensions and wheels and it would be done. I was going to go with the techno toy tuning front coil kit and s13 for the rear, but a friend of mine, told me about accuair, and I kinda kept thinking about them, they looked cool and the idea grew on me. I contacted accuair and they said they don't have a kit for a 280zx just 300zx (90's) and s14. I saw two people with 280zx accuairs, but unfortunately they didn't reply to me when I asked them how they did it, so I thought I would get help from here, maybe someone knows who did this build or not. I'm wondering if I get s14 kit the rear would be bolt on, just worried about the front , and I dont know if this would be of relevance but i'll go with watanabe F 16 x 8.5 -5 R 16 x 9.0 -13 . I also thought of going through the the techno toy suspensions and s13/14 then change the springs to bags maybe..? Thank you

Been doing some digging, to start piecing together this project build over the next decade or two. Found some interesting things here for everyone with an S130 or other models. Seems like they have 5 lug hubs, and other fun things to make swapping easier.

hey guys i'v been looking on line for answers to solve my sloppy rear suspension, i have the tokico lowering kit 'springs and blue shocks.' i have a 5.3 lm7 with a saginaw 4 speed trans. stripped interior ' no dash' and new 195/70r14 tires, and new poly bushings all around. the set up feels alright when im cruising around and in straight lines but when i start going 65ish mph through a long fast turn i feel the rear wanting to spin. 1) I wonder if my car is unbalanced since i have the v8 up front and only the fuel tank in the back?i did position the engine as close to the fire wall as possible when i made my motor mounts. 2) And if its not because of weight distribution is it because i dont have the correct spring rates for my set up? what would you recommend on the springs F and R ?

So I have a really loud and awful sounding squeaking noise coming from my rear suspension. it is happening only when I either go over a large bump, or I accelerate. It is BY FAR worse when accelerating, its almost constant squeaking/metal on metal? screeching sound. I'm having a lot of trouble trying to narrow down what could be causing it because I recently replaced all my bushings with urethane bushings, and replaced the struts. I have tried spraying my bushings with silicone spray, but that doesn't really help. I have tried having a passenger crawl back there and see if they can narrow down the problem area while I was driving but met with no success that way. I've tried taking out all the rear interior and driving with the hatch open but that did nothing. I've tried pulling the driver's side LCA (I'm convinced its on the driver's side... at least mostly) and re-greasing and sanding down the bushings to make them fit better, but that did nothing either. What could be causing a squeak under acceleration? Which bushings should I look at? Is it possible its the springs scraping the spring perch? Is there supposed to be some kind of pad between the two? Its SO BAD when accelerating, even like 1/8th gas it will do it. But cruising and braking it is silent. Any insight would be much appreciated. I apologize if this is in the wrong section, but I figure that since I have a 280z, this issue would be specific to that car, Mods please move if this is in the wrong section.

So I'm looking to lower my stock 240z, aggressive enough to have a noticable difference from a stock z but still practical enough for the street. The guys at Ground Control sell a weld on coilover kit that most people are happy about but now im debating what type of struts and shocks to buy to replace the stock ones. I plan on having maybe a 200ish lb spring rate upfront and 225-250 spring rate in the back all depending on what struts and shocks i get.I know alot of people are getting tokicos, or even using aw11 struts and i was even suggestsed some Monroes or Gabriels. Opinions?? Suggestions??

Hello from the UK! I've started to restore my rusty Datsun 206Z and having done a lot of research about suspension and coilovers I am in a bit of a pickle. Now from my understanding there are several ways of getting the Z lower. I've read through numerous threads about strut sectioning and also info on the 'screw on' McKinney (there are others) set up. However it doesn't seem to clarify how low you can go and level of adjustment with each set up. I would like to know the height adjustment and capabilities of each set up please. I plan to fit a 1JZ circa 400bhp in future but in the meantime will be running triple webers. Does this effect what front springs i should go for? What set up do you suggest? Do I get the McKinney Sleeves and camber plates then get some other coilovers to screw in? Not a fan of Meguns. We have these in UK that a lot of the drift boys use - http://www.hsdcoilovers.com/ I want my car to go this low but not this low all the time - http://www.speedhunters.com/2012/05/the-peoples-choice-sunnys-240z/ I dont know how much higher this can be adjusted from how it sits now. Using the car the odd weekend for fast road, drift and maybe the odd track day. Maybe even Nurburg. Thanks in advance

hey guys, so the guy i bought my z from had some ugly body kit on it, the bulky fiberglass one. well i took that off and replaced it with the msa poly one http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l276/meat164colgs/Z141.jpg . well when i did this it made my front end rise almost a full inch. i dont have money to spend on quality coil overs but i want to try and buy some cheep coils that fit a 280 and slightly cut them. i know this is stupid and un-recommended but it will be temporary its all i can do right now. i will eventually go to ground control.
