  1. Hello everyone. I'm going to jump right in. I just installed a new motor. Fully stripped of emissions except charcoal canister. Cold start delete. Bcddd deleted and plugged. EGR delete. All new vacuum lines. New plugs E3's /wires MSD 7mm. New fuel pump (95psi) regulated to 35psi on rail, and filters before and after. Clean grounds. New battery, starter, alternator. Clean connections on injectors. All injectors were bench tested and contacts cleaned w/ new gaskets. Vacuum tested @ 17. New Fidanza flywheel installed with exedy clutch. The issue: Car starts right up strong. Will rev to 3k decent. If I hammer throttle it backfires out the exhaust. I have played with the AFM because both units I have already been played with. I have calibrated one using the guide on Atlanticz.ca and everything went well. On reinstall, the car would not start. I had to tighten the clock spring on afm for it to run again. Now it is soo tight I am afraid to go any further. If I hold extra tension on the AFM it runs beautiful and smooth to 6.5k easy. What else can/should I do to correct this issue? Open to all suggestions.
  2. Hi Everyone, Is this possible - putting an 80-81 AFM on a 76 S30? Someone has stated that there will be fuel pump issues as there is no connection for the fuel pump on the AFM (or something like that)? Any assistance is greatly needed. Or if someone has an AFM for a '76, would be willing to trade for this? Thanks, E
  3. I'm looking to get the following electronics from an '82-'83 ZX turbo: - Wiring harness - ECU Also need a driveshaft from a manual '82-'83 ZX turbo that has the BW T5 transmission. Located in Everett, WA. A bit north of Seattle. Hoping to get the electronics for $150 or less and the driveshaft for under $100. Doing an L28ET swap into a '76 S30 so if you've got anything else that you think I might be interested in feel free to shoot me a pm. - Brandon
  4. So a little back story (without going into too many details): I purchased this car (1977 280z bone stock and sitting in a barn) extremely cheap ($900), everything was there and seemed to be in place; however, the previous owner said the car needed a new AFM. I purchased the car and AFM and installed it. The car ran, idled, etc. While going through the entire car, I found that the engine bay wiring harness (fuel injector clips, other 2 prong clips, and wires looked like they had seen some sort of heat as they were all fringed and brittle. I was able to source a completely new harness from the ECU forward; however, it came out of a '78. Everything will match up except for the AFM connector. My '77 has 7 pins where the new harness from the '78 has only 5 pins. This is because Datsun changed from having the fuel cut-off controlled by the AFM to having it integrated to the oil pressure switch/sending unit (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but i'm fairly close with that statement, i think lol). My question is this: Can I still use the '78 engine harness on my '77 and if so, how do i bypass or "jump" the fuel cut-off pins/switches within my '77 AFM? I have heard bits and pieces out there that this can be done but after hours of searching, was empty handed. I'm extremely excited to get my hands dirty and get this Z on the road as it's my first 280z. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance. -Adam
