Hey everyone. Tom, here. I'm a lifetime Z-nut starting to get more and more active on this forum as I start thinking about how the next steps of my car are going to play out. I'm hoping to get Datsun back on top in FP at SCCA Solo2. Background: Grew up with a dad who has owned and raced a BSP/FP 240Z in Southern and Northern California since the early 1980s. I was raised proper cheering on Steve Millen in his IMSA GTS 300ZX and Geoff Brabham in his IMSA GTP 300ZX as a kid. Needless to say, I grew up loving Zs and fell in love with the sound, looks, and response from those around who saw me in my dad's S30. Now that I own one, I can add the raw performance, balance, and direct throttle/steering response to the list of why I love these cars. These are our cars at the Portland Historics during the parade lap: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XpWHGJdLRW8 My dad's is the red/black one and mine is the silver. Here are some specs on the car: Rebello built 13.8:1 compression F54 CARRILLO light weight racing pistons and rods ported and polished heads racing cam Rebello prepared twin SU carbs racing headers 2.5" pipe into Magna Flow stainless steel racing muffler Rebello machined lightweight flywheel Mallory HyFire 6 - digital ignition control 282hp/245tq at crank with SU carbs on 110oct dual electric cooling fans electric fuel pump high volume oil pump Close ratio 240sx 5 speed Subaru R160 LSD Springs 320 lbs front and 400lbs back Adjustable coilovers/shocks/camber plates/control arms/concentric bolts 7/8" swaybars and 3/4" swaybars Front and rear strut tower brace and welded roll bar 300zx rear disks, 240sx rear calipers stainless steel brake lines front and back Hawk HP Plus brake pads The car is quick and tons of fun. Currently in talks with some members regarding big triples and lightweight wheels. Hoping to get this thing primed for the racing season. FP will be alive in the PNW this year! Check out my friend's build here (he's the lead car in the parade lap at the Portland Historics): https://www.facebook.com/brokenjawracing?fref=ts I'm excited to be here. If anyone wants more details on the car, i didn't build it myself but I have tons of paperwork. If you're interested in buying it, I'd be tempted to sell instead of throwing some money at it. -Tom
This year the 50th SCCA National Championship Run Offs will be held Septh 16-22 2013 at Road America and will feature something special. None other than John Morton will be running an EP 240Z sponsored by the Bonk Brothers Racing and Sam Neave Enterprises. Here is your chance to be a part of history. Steve and his group are looking for financial support from all interested parties to help make this dream for John and his fans come true. Contact Steve Bonk at firstname.lastname@example.org for details, but you can contribute directly here: http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/john-morton-datsun-z-car-project-46 or via paypal to email@example.com The indiegogo ink shows the various contribution levels and what you will receive in return as a thank you. Think t-shirts, team jackets, your name on the car, a lock of his hair (limited availability...), the usual graft. Many of the levels earn your name on the deck lid of the car. Others get you up close and personal with John and the team during the events. This is a once in a life time opportunity. Don't miss out on the chance to help John and his team make this a reality. See you all in September! -------------------------- BBR Racing http://www.transam-bsedan.com/ The Engine/car Builder: Sam Neave http://www.lnaenterprises.com/morton Facebook link https://www.facebook.com/WaterfordHillsVintage?filter=2 SCCA Link http://www.scca.com/events/index.cfm?eid=5680 Road America Links for this event http://www.roadamerica.com/Races/RaceInformation.asp?id=247 Schedule http://www.roadamerica.com/userfiles/file/2013%20Schedules/2013_Runoffs_WORKING_Schedule_1_30_13.pdf Jim
