where do you want me to put the led (transister) ? wheres that?

This is the power transistor.

Green wire that comes from ECU, is power transistor trigger, led is between ground and green wire, this led has light every ignition event.

Try led in the two polarity directions. switch green and ground wires

If you have injector pulses, the ECU or harness might be damage.

with a tester check continuity to the green wire of power transistor to ECU connector pin 5, of 20 pin connector.

In the last led-power transistor test, you had to disconnect the power transistor to did the test, because if power transistor is damage might grounded and bridge three wires: black, blue and green.

Hey 91iroc I just had this same problem...after much thinking and research (trust me...a lot of research into cost and availability :) ) I decided to do the GM HEI upgrade to get spark finally.

http://m.zdriver.com/forum/showthread.php?t=27569

There is the link. I had to sign up for zdriver to view the pics which CLEARLY show you exactly what to do and it's working fine so far. For $28 at Autozone I got a unit with a freakin' lifetime warranty so if I burn it up it's FREE to replace...much better than what you'll pay for a new transistor.

Other option I looked into was the Z31 turbo coil/ignitor upgrade...

Which if you could find in a junkyard would be a good value as well. But my personal suggestion is do the HEI upgrade. You've got the link right there and it is super easy, affordable, and it's readily available. There's my $0.02.

Just wanted to add that I have no long-term testing of this HEI upgrade, and I plan to upgrade to a much less cheesy heatsink. Maybe something that looks more like this...

Just something more like a traditional finned heatsink would make me feel better (and possibly look cooler as well :) )

The transistor doesn't need power wire.

If you have pulses from ecu on green wire, and the new transistor works, the only think that cross my mind, damage coil, not enough current to feed the (+) coil, tach wire might be grounded.
