Gas Monkey in Dallas. $$$$$

Jerry's Z Car Emporium "All Z Car Specialist" on the Ft. Worth/Arlington line $$

There was also that one guy that bought my old 84AE... Greg... Rob... Can't remember. 300z Parts+ Or something. Think it went under.

Although Jerry is more of a wrecker than a shop. He might have also retired & turn it over.

What do you need done?

Jerry is sort of semi-retired. He still owns the space on Mosson Rd. in Ft Worth but rents out his shop to a guy named Paul whose business is called "Wireworks". Paul can work on Z's but I can't personally vouch for his work. Jerry built a new shop on the other side of his property. I don't think he would still do actual mechanic work, but I don't know that for sure. You could certainly talk to him and he might know some other people.

Another guy, also in Ft. Worth, is Steve Ehlers who owns "Rising Sun". I'm assuming he is still in business. Steve is extremely knowledgeable about Z-cars and is also very anal. This is good if you need to KNOW that what you need done will get done right. It's BAD in that you will come out of there thinking your car is a POS...lol. That's a bit harsh, I'm just saying be prepared for criticism. Kind of like a combination of getting your car worked on and going to confession :-)

Interesting reply from Steve:

Hi ,
Thanks for the contact ,however I'm  true to the Z car and never install American made engines in them .I do have a customer that has a Series 1 car also with a LT1 ( he bought it done ),and when I talked to some friends about tuning it , they All turned their noses up on this engine ! In fact if your not using a LS type engine they think your wasting your time . I don't now much about the LT engines ,but from what I heard ,I wouldn't even want a Vet with one . Sorry but my scope of knowledge is 6 cylinder inline and v-6 stuff .Since I have made over 500 hp with a L series engine ,I never saw a need for engine swaps . Sorry ,but I also don't know anybody that could help you do a sanitary or clean install either .
Good Luck ,

Steve"

Heck - why don't you just take it to Johns Cars, 800 Jaguar Lane, in Dallas? John Radevich is the one who developed the LS1 conversion components on my '77 280Z. His folks do outstanding work and he knows what he is doing. I've seen other people take their V-8 Z's to him after some other mechanic had screwed them up. He does OEM level work. Great shop.

Steve at Rising Sun is a fountain of knowledge on Z cars and really knows the stock ones. He wasn't too receptive to the idea of a V8 in one when I did mine back in 2004. From the post above it looks like he still feels the same way.

Jerry at All Z Car was a long-time friend when I still lived in Arlington. Again - super source for all things Z but not experienced with the LS1.
