skibumspence Posted October 28, 2015 Share Posted October 28, 2015 Hi everyone, I have a 78 280Z that I am collecting parts for to do a V8 conversion and restoration. I have a chevy V8 called the L33 AKA the 5.3HO that I intend to install into the Z. If you aren't familiar with this engine it is an aluminum block LS based 5.3 liter engine rated at 310HP and 335 foot pounds of torque. I am planning on using the Johns Cars LS based engine mounts and kit. I want to run a manual transmission. Does anyone know what my options are for a manual trans that will work with this kit? I talked to Johns Cars and they suggested the T56 from a Camaro/Firebird. That's fine but I haven't found any used ones for sale. There are some on E-bay from C5 corvettes available, but will they work for me and with the Johns Cars kit?
