All good bro. Sometimes putting these projects on the back burner is a good thing. It’s looking really good tho.

hmm I’m excited for these r888s tho. I can’t wait to see what the hype is all about.

I have looked around and sourced out a few options. I think the Mark Nickel adapters with the OEM stylnCV axles from the Z31T are the route I’m going to go.

I watched a ZED video of a couple doing a swap on their LSX Datsun on YouTube and was kinda turned off they had to notch their control arms because the adapters were too large. This was with the DSS cv axles.

wolf creek I heard wont support high HP. I mean I’m not crazy in the numbers but I don’t want to do things twice if later in life I get crazy.

but I’ll definitely post what I do in my thread if I go the z31T route.

Just a heads up, Wolf Creek/Futofab came out with 108mm versions that will handle higher power output. I'm trying to decide if I'm going to use these or the DSS on my on build. Didn't realize the adapters were causing fitment issues on the DSS...

Larger Futofab/Wolf Creek kit.

In regards to that video of the couple working on that 280z, they are using the OEM rear LCAs, which is where the DSS fitment came into place. Fitment might not be an issue when using T3 or Apex rear LCAs.

Nurgleton. Thank you for clearing this up. I fully didn't research just assumed, and since im running OEM LCA's i would've had to do the same.

Which in the grand scheme of things isn't the worst of fabricating options.

Little update from over the winter up until now. After making the patch panel I decided to dive into some more rust I had found on the rad support. Ended up finding a lot of lipstick on this pig.

Bent some tube and mocked up what I was envisioning. Then I stripped her down and cut out everything I could find that had rust, and I know I should have inspected and done this before. Better late then never I guess...New frame rails cut to length and tacked into place. Decided to work on the engine a bit as well now that its out.

Had some inspiration from @seattlejester with the 3d printing. Managed to pick one up and started plugging away at drawings. Still need to fine tune my settings but its a good start.

Placed some orders for some misc engine parts and decided I'd start on a new manifold. Found some inspiration online and decided to start plugging away. Tubes were cut, tacked into place and sent off to be welded professionally. The shop recommended I add a flange incase I decided to change anything down the road. They did an amazing job.

Anyone know anywhere to get a stainless 1jzgte manifold flange? I was looking at the CX Racing one but they want $350 usd just to ship it up to Canada.

Man that looks really good pretty good priority as well.

They want $350 in shipping alone? If that is what you want I'll ship it up to you for what it costs at the local shipping place. Or perhaps you can try eBay? I know some shipping calculators freak out when you input other countries.

Thanks, Yes they wanted $350 just for shipping. I've tried looking through ebay and buying from them but its still a ridiculously high price on shipping. If your willing to do that let me know and I'll send you the money and my shipping address right away.

Sure, as long as you aren't somewhere terribly isolated lol.

I'd love to see that manifold complete. Send me the link to whichever one fits your fancy.

Good stuff right there. Team work makes the dream work.

once again thanks to @seattlejester for grabbing me that manifold flange. Shortly after receiving it I started working on 3d printed manifold tubes, similar to whats already being sold. Just need to prints out some 45 and 90 degree pieces.

I had purchased an intake plenum about a year back when Otaku Garage first started producing them, assuming they were testing waters at the time because the price of them now is abit higher. With the engine still out of the Z I finally got around to installing it. Fingers crossed that it has good results on the dyno. One thing I dislike right off the bat is the location of the IACV, it comes in contact with the stock oil cool/ filter. From speaking to the guys at Otaku they've since revised its location so its no longer in the way of the stock oil cooler/ filter location. The throttle body the comes with the plenum is a 90mm, I ended up putting a Vibrant HD clamp on the end of it.

Water pump was swapped out for one of the ones from Driftmotion. One thing that I cannot seem to find an answer to is why is it that the 1jz/ 2jz water pumps are interchangeable but the 1jz/ 2jz waterneck outlet isnt? Am I missing something?

I switched out the stock oil cooler for an aftermarket sandwich plate and got that installed. Going to run some -10an lines to the new oil cooler. Fittings on the cooler are -10an x M22 to a 60 degree -10an to hose.

Glad it made it to you!

Can't wait to see the turbo manifold.

The 2jz water neck looks quite different, so I imagine the length would be different for the water tube to the head would be my guess.

I had the same issue with my intake on the 7m, one of the reasons I didn't run an IAC. The solution people came up with is running an adapter to make it 90* or a hose to a remote location. Kind of funny when people copy old designs not realizing the problems they had.

The block is physically longer on the 2JZ so it's water neck outlet was designed around the longer pipe. The flange where it bolts to the head is also different. I ran into a few interesting issues when doing a 2JZ head swap into my 1JZ block and that was one of them.

Here's an older photo to show it's doable with the right combination of parts.

@seattlejester I considered just moving it and rewelding it but the shop that did my tuning suggested running a ford iac. After I put the sandwich plate on the oil filter it gave me enough room though so I'll probably just run it like that until it stops working.

@Geno750 thanks for the input, great to know its doable. Would you say its worth doing the swap? Looks like it could get costly....then again everything we do to our cars seems to cost an arm and a leg.

It depends to be honest. I was in a unique spot and had a guy wanting my 1JZ head for a 1.5JZ. I wanted to build up the block and head to ensure I could have a longer powerband, and it seemed easier to just start with a better flowing head with a lot more aftermarket options. Doing it all at once meant I could do things like buy 11.5:1 pistons which only net you a static cr somewhere around 9.2:1 with the 2JZ head.
