Oblithian Posted December 22, 2018 Share Posted December 22, 2018 I am in the middle of some bodywork, but before I can re-assemble my '75 280z I need to replace the foam pieces that brace the front fenders and outer door panels. Mine had all either dissolved or were torn when the panels were removed. Does anyone know the factory thickness of the foam so I can find a suitable replacement? grannyknot Posted December 22, 2018 Share Posted December 22, 2018 You can just put the fender back on the car and put you hand up through the wheel well to feel how much room is there, about 1/2" from what I remember. Just be sure to get closed cell foam so it doesn't soak up water and rust the fender. Dollar store pool noodles work well. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Tin Benders (HVAC guys) use ( might be "used" - back in the day) something similar to insulate the suction side tubing on A/C systems - to keep condensation off of it.
