9 second ls swap 260z build

Recommended Posts

New to the forum here so ill start from the beginning. Picked up a 260z shell june 2018. Fairly bare. Had some seats, a steering wheel, a brake pedal, and suspension. No body wiring or drivetrain besides the diff and halfshafts. So first thing i did was called my tuner and had him get me a tune date for the car as he is usually out 3 months for tunes which gave me that much time to get the car road worthy so let the fun begin. My goal for the car was build something that was a blast to drive, runs 9s in the quarter mile and does 170mph in the 1/2 mile.

Started hunting for parts to get the ball rolling. Got a deal on a lq4 and m12 t56 I couldnt refuse. Due to my power goals I didnt want to do the header deal twice so I decided to try and make the arh headers work with the dirty dingo motor mounts and jtr trans mount. Since I got those mounts with the car.

Got the fuel cell in. Made some coil relocation brackets. Then started working to get the headers clearanced to the steering shaft. That was essentially the only part that didnt fit well using the mounts I had. Got some wheels and tires also. 16x8.5 Circuit Performance CP25 and 245/50/16s.

3 months for a home build going from shell to dyno.  That's impressive.

Thanks. There was for sure a bit of luck going on finding parts and everything going together smooth. This was a year ago. I just recently finished putting a blower on it and it took all of 3 months to figure it out.

Very impressive, are you still running the stock rear and drive axles? I thought I could see a cv boot in one picture but not 100% on that.

Welded R200 and stock half shafts. Heres one that was on the car for the 9 second pass.
