Ordered an 80 280zx and a 94 honda accord sedan EX. the 80 model will pretty much bolt right up. The 94 honday motor is smaller than the 80, and is VERY easily adaptable. All i would have to do is take a dremel or a grinder to it and make the rectangular notch that mounts to the wiper bars. very easy. I know how fast the honda wiper blades are as i drive one currently, But how fast is the ZX wipers? same speed as the 78 280z? or faster? the difference in price is about 40 bucks.... the zx is 80 the honda is 121. zcarnut Posted December 10, 2003 Share Posted December 10, 2003 Don't forget that most of the later model wiper motors require a separate control box that interfaces with the wiper motor and the column switch. Although the ZX and Honda wiper motor may "bolt in", I doubt that your existing Z wiring harness and column switch will "plug in" the corresponding control box. Prepare to do some re-wiring and hope you can get your column switch to activate the later wiper motor. Nismo280zEd Posted December 11, 2003 Author Share Posted December 11, 2003 Well i'm really leaning toward the honda motor as i live in houston, TX and it rains quite i bit here... also Flroida is in my future and it likes to rain there as well. So far, i've re-wired ignition, headlights, radios, altenators, converted fusible links, wired in relays to take more load, new fuseblocks, etc. I think matching up prong for wire from the motor shouldn't be too dificult. Pluse i've got the repair manual for the honda so it should ahve the wiring for it in there... and if that doesn't work.. i have the car to go look and see how honda wired it. Plus... the honda and the Z have the same amount of switch speeds, Int, Medium, Fast. and the both have the feature to push where it sprays fluid and wipes. So i think it should go pretty smooth. I can check out various cars at the JY or my Escort, to see if there is another that will fit the bolt patern. TomoHawk Posted October 14, 2015 Share Posted October 14, 2015 (edited) It turned out that the Ford Escort wiper motor is just about the same size and bolt pattern, and even has it's own auto-park! But the wiring would need to be figured out. It has a ground, and one wire for low speed, and one wire for high speed.
