RB conversion - gearstick boot for the RB20DET gearbox?

Well, the RB engine has eaten the bearings in the modified B series box, so this morning I drove 580K (350miles) and collected a real RB20DET turbo gearbox.

However - the gearstick arrangement is completely different with the RB box, and the A/B series floor boot is not going to work... or at least I don't think it will.

Any recommendations for how to seal the floor to the gearstick?

Well, the box is is now, so I'm having to deal with the issue. I think I'll have to get a short-shift conversion anyway - the throw is waaaaay long compared to the 'B' box. Also, the gear-stick needs to be bent to allow clearance between itself and the console... and the only way to replace the rubber boot on the trans end is to replace the entire gearstick assembly, and my boot has a couple of splits in it :(

It's not the trim boot I'm having a problem with, it's the floorpan-to-gearstick boot. The RB gearstick has a rubber isolated top, so the gearstick is ~ 30mm diameter for most of its length. From the marks on the stick, the rubber boot used on the original car must have come right to the top of the gearstick, unlike the 'L' boots which sit at the bottom.

Some good news - the lower boot that seals the gearstick to the top of the gearbox is replaceable without changing the whole gearstick. According to the guys who supplied the gearstick, the hole in the top of the rubber boot is flexible enough that the replacement boot can be slid down the stick and over the ~ 30mm rubber isolation section without tearing. I have a new boot on order... should arrive monday.

Also - there are supposed to be a variety of different gearsticks which fit the GTST gearboxes, and some have different angles. Something to look into further... the current gearstick (R32) is incompatible with the centre console.
