Is that a Witness I see? I've got a couple. 10mm FS Blue and .45 FS WF.

Love 'em!

I'm too busy to take a picture...In addition:

2 Ruger 22 Autos

Beretta .32ACP

Ruger Redhawk .44 Mag

K-31 Swiss

S&W 12 ga. Auto

CZ-52

Bulgie Makarov

Winchester Golden Spike Commemorative

Yep, it's a 10mm Tanfoglio in wonder finish, great pistol for $299.

I have a Charles Daily 1911 that was made in PI. After a little work on the feed ramp it cycles awesome with everything but hollow points. Totally reliable and accurate gun as long as you use FMJ ball ammo. It will shoot 3" groups at 25 yards, probably even tighter if someone with better eyes than mine were shooting it. Even if most of the Rock Island gun is crap, it's super easy to replace parts on the 1911. As long as it has a steel frame, your'e good to go.

Looks like a real nice piece of work there. Nice degree of "finish".

Personally' date=' any handgun bigger than a .38 is pretty useless. So, if I buy one any bigger than a .38, I intend to go completely balls-out.

Practically useless outside of bear country? Yep. Do I care? Maybe a little. Is it friggin' awesome? Absolutely![/quote']

A good friend of mine has his concealed weapon lisence in CA plus many other states. He owns a gun shop and thus has perfectly good reason for such a lisence. He carries a glock 45 with him at all times. Sure it doesn't hold THAT many rounds, but how many do you really need?

And CA hasn't gone TOTALLY bad, i'm 18 and can legally own a bolt action rifle and/or shot gun (holding no more than 3 rounds inculding chamber).

The assult rifle ban sucks though. Another friend of mine is in the marines and thus can get his hands on some guns that aren't expecially easy to get to your doorstep, weather it's legal in what state he's in is another matter ;)

His name wouldn't be Mac, and he wouldn't happen to own Irvington Arms, would he? lol :)

Too bad his sucks.

I will admit that the one my brother-in-law got initially had a TERRIBLE DA pull, but after a littlle 'Smithing", it's smooth as glass now.

Neither of us has had any jams or FTF.

Of course while I was doing the wsork on his action, I also polished the fed ramp, did a little recontouring and chamfered the chamber. Then I did both of mine. This was before we ever shot them.

I've just finished building up a longslide 1911 out of an 80% receiver made by KT ordnance http://www.ktordnance.com. All together I have about $650 into the project, most of it purchased from Ebay. I took it to the range today for function testing only, expecting at least a few glitches to show up. I need to adjust the sights slightly to the left, and thats it. It left one ragged hole about 3.5" around at 25 yards.... Not bad for a 100 round group. No FTF or FTE at all. The ejected cases only fly about a foot away, but they eject every time. For the money you could spend on the Rock Island 45 to make it just the way you want it, you could probably build up your own from a kit. The new receivers/frames KT Ordnance makes are about $100 more than the one I bought, but they have the mag well and plunger tube already built in. These would cost about $100 anyway. Heres a pic of the frame as it comes mailed to your doorstep:

Just some food for thought,

z tard, if the feed ramp is properly modified, it should feed empty cases with no problem one clip full after another. If it feeds empty cases, then it'll feed anything you put in it.

"Properly modified" is the key term here. Unfortunately I didn't really know what the hell I was doing when I did the feed ramp on mine, and took off a little too much metal. I had to chamfer the edge of the chamber quite a bit to make up for the metal I took off the feed ramp. I'm afraid if I chamfered it any more, the case might not have enough support which could lead to ruptures. Not good. I've chalked this one up as a learning experience, which I didn't repeat with my KT Ordnance build.

Thanks for the tip about the empty cases. I never heard of that before, but it makes sense. An empty case is like the ultimate hollow point. One of these days when I'm in NM, we should get together and blow some stuff up :)

There's a gun builder in Socorro, name is Frank Combs, 505.835.4440, builds all my guns. He's a specialist in anything custom. He could fix your .45 in about 30 minutes, even if it needed a new barrel. My 1911 .45 SS enhanced colt will feed empty cases and anything else you load thanks to Frank.

Going Elk hunting this AM

See ya

My regular digital camera isn't talking to my computer anymore, so I had to take this picture with my cell phone. This is my newly finished 1911 built on a KT Ordnance 80% complete frame. Slide is the 6" longslide from STI. Nowlin barrel, various manufacturers (too many to remember) on the internals. Total build was less than $700, and I would feel pretty confident putting this one up against any of the $2000+ high end 1911's currently on the market. The project was quite a learning experience, but not all that difficult. For anyone with some mechanical aptitude wanting a kick *** 1911, this is the cheapest and most rewarding way to go.
