mystery pistons

I found some STOCK L28 NISSAN pistons that had a 7.9cc dish in them out of a junkyard 2.8L motor once.

No one ever figured out how they got in the motor since all were supposed to be 10.9 cc pistons but they had identical markings to my other stock Nissan pistons.

Hard to tell from the photograph but those pistons look like the dish is around 3 cc's or less. It's possible that someone shaved them down to fit in a LD28 crank.

I know I shaved mine way down like that for my 11.6:1 CR motor that lasted all of 1 month before grenading itself.

Anyway let us know what you find out.

Later,Norm

whats getting me is the reverse dish. as in a very small dome.

dunno, i'll get some cleaner or something on them this friday when i go back over there to do some more tinkering. i don't think a pic of the bottom of the piston would do any good either

Good grief the photos made them look as if they were dished 3 cc's.

You probably have motorsport pistons that have a slight dome to increase compression.
