Hmmm… with ALL that room in front of that V-6 engine, it looks as though there is enough room for at least an R-180 between the strut towers if not an R-200 if the power and traction was crazy enough to warrant an R-200 up front …. If there is not enough room in front of the engine between the front strut towers for a Datsun diff, I do know that the engine can be moved back at least 6 more inches with some fire wall mods that shouldn’t encroach to much on passenger footwell comfort. … The GMC Syclone and Typhoon have a nifty little transfer case for All Wheel Drive Applications… Hmmm. I’d bet the All Wheel Drive Chevy Astro van and GMC Safari uses a similar if not identical transfer case… Hmmmm..mmm…mm… and more Hmmm..hhmmmmm

(did I just give away an idea that a few of us Oregon Z nuts have been bench racing about for years? Is there someone out there in need of an extreme Hybrid Z project high in WOW factor that just might read this thread?...)

In all honesty, our theories of the all wheel drive Z is that it would make for an awesome rainy day stop light grand prix car, equaling the EVO’s and STI’s and then eclipsing them past 80 MPH. It most likely wouldn’t autocross as well as a nicely set up RWD Hybrid Z with any number of power options under the hood, but think of the WOW factor at the Datsun meets! Honestly, who has actually built an AWD Z? An AWD S30 definitely would get my attention even if it wasn’t as fast as it should be….

Ok, that seed has finally been planted.. lets see who waters it….

Uhmm… Isn’t pornography illegal on this forum? As a Christian man, (who really needs a lot of help in his walk,) this picture is definitely border line pornographic, for any self respecting car guy…. C’mon guys, honestly.. How many of you could actually resist the temptation of shedding you’re clothes and rubbing against that power plant?

I’ll be the first to admit that I couldn’t resist…

(I’m going to hell now….)…

I'll take two, thank you.....

Just be sure to let the headers cool down before doing the dirty....

Or at least spray it with PAM first so you don't stick. Heh Heh Heh.

I didn't bother checking prices on the Falconer engines. I'm just going to assume it's more than I'd be willing to spend. If I should ever win the Super Lotto though, it will be mine. Overall dimensions are probably pretty close to the Jag V12. Big sum-beech. It would fit though, and it's based on the SBC, so it would bolt right up to a T56. At those HP levels though, even the T56 would need some serious work done to it to prevent meltdown. The JTR motor mount plates on this would have to point the opposite direction of the SBC version, if required at all. We should see if this guy will sponsor the next HybridZ race car.....

Speaking of AWD, I know I'm not the only one that knows about this link, but here it is anyway: http://www.z31.com/~morgan/nd/?z/awd1000hp240z.jpg I found it in an old post while trying to find out about the red Monza Mystery Z, and thought it was just hard core. Z-tard, I think a 4.3TT would be great. I'm not super familiar with those engines, but there's something to be said for being different. Plus, if it works, you would be everybody's hero, and if it turns out to be a spectacular failure, at least somebody took one for the team and we can all scratch it off the donor list, right?

Something to think about guys!

If you go with a 4.3 chevy you can get a twin turbo setup from Gale Banks that will fit a SBC so why not the 4.3?? If I remember correctly he was getting between 600-700 hp using very little boost and pump gas on a pretty standard SBC. Also I think he ran a TT4.3 in one of his race trucks that he ran at the old salt flats.

So if you ask the right questions he may have some good information that may help you get the right setup for your TT4.3!

Just a thought!

I have it on good authority from a Syclone guru that they are indeed the same. AND they are everywhere. Last week I was in a junkyard and stopped counting AWD Safari/Astros at six. Can you say little $$$? My "someday" list includes using one of those transfer cases in something/anything.

(The sad part of that story is the missing FairladyZ I expected to still be in the JY after 3 years).

Hey guys whats up? Not to intrude on your forum here but I was looking for oddfire cranks on the web and somehow ended up here and got to reading. I was wondering if any of your guys here have done anything talked about in this thread? I've read some correct info and a lot of incorrect info. If any of you have any questions about the 4.3 turbo motor out of the SyTY let me know and I can more than likely help out. They are not as bad as a lot of people make them out to be. MOST of it is going to be in your heads and most important of all, your tune. Sorry to dig up such an old post but thought it was interesting you guys thinking of using these motors in your cars.

Hey BRAAP,

There's a guy in Clearview, Washington who fixes the Keith Black Alum blocks. He can take 2 broken Mopar 360s and merge them into a V12 easy. He does several a year. Try HP:570 Lbs:615 NA. A turbo with 10 PSI gets about HP:1150 Lbs:1321 but only the weight of a 360 block and the power of a freight train. Dad can I use the credit card to get "pizzas"...
