I wasn't sure if this belonged here or in the chasis forum but I decided to try here. I'll start with some basic info about myself/ my z since mainly I am just one of the lurkers who never post. This is my second 240z I unfortunalty totalled my first one which was a birthday present from my dad. I was 16 and immature. I went on for the next two years without a z and needed to get back into it. For my 18th birthday my dad and I flew out to Colorado and purchased my current 240. At the time neither him nor I noticed the rust on the rails. This last summer when I started to get the car cleaned up to go out in I noticed the rails. And it has been up on jackstands ever since. I'Im guessing that most of you do not care but I figured I would throw it out there. I amfairly new to this kind of extensive work. I can do body work and most of the mechanical work needed but when it comes to choping and welding I am kind of lost. This what it looks like now. I was thinking about going and getting some a piece of angle iron thats the same gauge as the original rail and cutting it where the cancer ends and then taking thicker angle iron and completely boxing in the rail. I would do this to the other side also because their is minor( mino compared to this side) rot on the driver side frame rail also. If somebody with more knowledge on this subject could me more information that would be very much appreciated.
