cam selection for triple weber 40 setup

This summer I will be building a L-28 engine for my 79 280zx . My setup consists of: F-54 block, stock flattops,N-47 head, triple weber 40 dcoe's,Fidanza aluminum flywheel, ACT xtss clutch, MSA header, Magna flow muffler, 2-3/4" exhaust. I'm not sure what camshaft I should get. Could anyone recommend any certain brands that they are using, and the size that would be good for my setup? I tried a search, but couldn't find much. Any advice for my setup would be appreciated. THANKS, JEFF

hey jeff, i went with the delta 280/460 lift camshaft. it is very streetable with no drivability issues what so ever... power is great and it has a slight lope but i wish i would have gone a bit larger because i like lopey cams... p.s... my setup is l28, ported mn47, triple dellorto's with flat tops... good luck!!

How is your low end power? Would a higher lift cam take away some low end power, or wouldn't it make much difference?

Thanks for your advice, I did search for a few hours, but I'm not familiar with the brand names, and didn't find much that was similar to my setup, maybe I'm searching wrong or something. I've learned alot from your suggestions, and appreciate all your help.

I should have asked before. Did you search? This subject has been covered A LOT.

…and I will be giving a write up on L-6 cam installations as a Hybrid sticky and in that write up will also be info regarding cam specs for performance applications as applied to N/A, Super charged and Nitrous L-series engines. It will be a couple months till I can get to writing that article as we are currently swamped in custom cylinder head work.

hey jeff, the power really comes on (relatively speaking) above 2000 rpm and has plenty of torque for drivability at even lower rpms. i am also using the aluminum flywheel (love it!!) and my triples have 30 mm chokes so throttle response, low end and top end are all pretty damn good. p.s.. of course my factory tach is not accurate so my numbers are approximate. good luck!
