mattyice 10 Posted February 1, 2008 just seeing if anyone has experience with these mounts or not? would you recommend getting them? or should i just get the vildini cradle? i would much rather get the Vildini cradle but then i have to make my own tranny mount...if they can get extremely close to the firewall placement like Vildini can on their custom installs then it would be worth the price i think... the i thought of the problem that when i switch out to the R200 300ZX rear end would i just tell them its the 260Z/280Z type 3 kit even though my car is a 71 240? mattyice 10 Posted February 5, 2008 thanks dan those will definitely come in handy! do you happen to know if they use the SR20 mounts? or do you have to use the L24 mounts? also i wonder if they can come down at all in price, that is some expensive pricing they have going on over there

chrism 10 Posted March 14, 2008 Mack made my mounts and they place the RB20 right where it needed to go. Solved lots of problems and gave me more room infront of the motor.
240Z_Master 0 Posted March 16, 2008 IMPORTANT Just remember, Nissan made 3 different transmission mounts from 70-78. The series 1 240Z is different, and the series 2 240Z is a bit different. Finally the 280Z style which I think was used in the 260Z as well is a completely different mount. The 240Z's have pins that bolt up into the chassis while the 280Z style is a slide through pin from the side. I think this is why a lot of people say fab your own tranny mount. 240Z_Master 0 Posted March 16, 2008 here are the pics, sorry for taking up so much bandwidth This tranny mount is completely useless for 240Z style mounts unless you plan to add brackets to the inside of your transmission tunnel, which at that point is no longer a bolt in. Works perfect for 260's and 280s. Just my $0.
fast-datsun 12 Posted March 18, 2008 WE offer all 3 style trans mount to go with our kits Just let us know what year you car is...see web site for call for more info...
240Z_Master 0 Posted March 18, 2008 Well I'm glad to see that McKinney has recognized that there are different types of mounts now... However I still think the website information is a bit off still. According to the website the breakdown of the years are as follows... 70-73 240z TYPE 1 73 LATE 240 Z TYPE 2 260/280 Z IS TYPE 3 I'm almost 100% certain that 70-73 should not be bracketed as one type as there are Series 1 and Series 2 240Z that are different in transmission mounting locations, however they do have a valid disclaimer saying you should contact them with the production year which would determine the correct transmission mount to use. fast-datsun 12 Posted March 19, 2008 WE are refining the trans mounts on the fly as we get different cars in the shop. By the Datsun drawings we have there are 3 different trans mounts from 69-78, but we know production changes, do not always get updated. Any help and info would be helpful....contact me or email
kiwi303 29 Posted May 5, 2008 Is this SR20 mounting, a cradle that mounts into the existing mounts and then holds the SR20 in itself. Or a mount set that is welded to the chassis? If they're new mounts welded to the chassis in place of the old ones, can they be fitted without removing the L28 mounts in a 280ZX? or do the L28 mounts have to be torched off to clear the space for the SR20 mounts? MCAKES 0 Posted August 26, 2009 i am thinking about doing the SR20 swap. does this kit require the mounts to be welded into place or is it a bolt in swap like the JCI install?
Tony D 151 Posted September 11, 2009 That 'style one' catch all by '240z Master' is misleading as well. My 72 and 73 240Z's have the fore-aft pin attachment like my 260/280/280ZX. Maybe the early 'screws into the bottom up' is just for the earlier cars, and automatics, but by 1973, the mount is pretty much standardized till the end of the S130 run. For Standard Shift cars, that is...the Automatics ceased getting a different style mount at some point as well. Which I think is where he's getting the '70-73 Type 1' designation. Blakt Out 11 Posted September 29, 2009 I've got McKinney stuff on mine. The intercooler, throttle cable, wiring, fan and shroud... etc. Great stuff. Mack will take care of you! We made this bracket though.
Negligence 0 Posted October 14, 2009 I called up McKinney, these guys are great, i told them im purchasing a ton of sr20 swap parts in the upcoming months and they were very very insightful on the whole process and said they could work out a discount since im buying so many parts, they would make an entire kit and mark it down. Really looking forward to doing business with them
nakagusukumike 10 Posted January 31, 2010 i had good luck with mine, but had to shave them a bit to fit right... I was gonna give my money to the Vildini guys, but I guess I wasn't good enough to get an email response with a quote. The McKinney stuff was good, cheap and shipped super fast. Great experience. http://blacklinux.com/pages/public/cars/Z/20091204/default.htm
SR240Z 15 Posted January 31, 2010 Has nothing to do with about being good enough. No point to state something like that on the forum. At the time we had no experience in shipping international to an APO mail box. Sorry for the inconvenience.
nakagusukumike 10 Posted January 31, 2010 a simple response would have been... professional. My experience in shopping for an SR cradle for my Z is totally relevant to the thread despite not being in your favor. I've got another friend over here using the McKinney mounts for his RB26 S13 and they fit just perfect. DO IT!
