Alright, here's the story, when I get my father's 240z Eventually, I want to have an entire plan as to what I'm going to do with it. I have some really radical plans, and I really really want to make this car live like the day it was born.

I need ideas for the dash. The current one I tried to fix with the alternate dash repair method but it ended up cracking and stuff. I still have the original dash in there, so I need some ideas. I've got a few ideas, and I'm willing to learn or get other people to fiberglass/weld etc...

If you voted on something, let me know why you did, and your thoughts on the project....

Most upholstering shops would do this but I bet its reallly $pendy.

actually thats good to know because I'm looking at getting this done

For me at this point, it's either make up a new dash out of Fiberglass, get a whole dash cover(cheapest and easiest) or get it upholstered (best looking imo,but most expensive :()

Anyone have any price estimates on what something like getting it covered in material will cost? I can call, but of course I'm too lazy :)

Well I just gave a deposit at a place in my town in NC to have the dash covered like this: P10100081.JPG

I hope it comes out good. They are even going to make stitching that says Datsun 280Z on it over the glove compartment area. The estimate was $300 I hope it doesn't go too much higher.

Looking forward to see how it comes out. Keep us posted! :icon14:

If I'm not mistaken the last pic BRAAP posted of the suede dash with stitching has been created by a guy in Norway, he has a shop where they have their own in house interior specialists, they've done a lot of dashes like this, and not just for Zs.

His work looks awesome.

Keep it simple. A dash cover looks great, is easy to install, relatively cheap and in my opinion, unless the rest of the car is in tip top shape should really be the last place you spend money.

It's just a dash after all.
