Mustache bar clunk?

Recommended Posts

I hear a clunking noise when my rear end exits a steep driveway or goes over a speed bump. Should the mustache bar mounting points be tightened up against the chassis? here is a photo of its current position. Also I just replaced the shocks and springs.

Thanks for any advise!

That gap should not be there. If I were you I would replace the stock rubber bushings with a new set of poly bushings and tighten it up...will make a big difference. Check your differential mount while you are at it and replace if cracked/broken/worn...The poly mustache bushings are available from various companies...here is a set on Ebay..there are other suppliers.

Go back to the speedbump where you heard the noise. Go over it again with your foot on the clutch. If you hear the noise while freewheeling over the speedbump the noise is coming from the struts. You said you just changed the struts and springs. Was the noise there before you did this? Are you now using shorter lowering springs?
