Help choosing new firearm!!?

The other thread related to the pistols got me wanting to let go of some of my money again. Pffft.. Thanks.

Essentially, I'm worried about how this election will change how free citizens are allowed to purchase or own firearms.

Really, the only shooting I do is target shooting. Back when I didn't work every weekend my friends and I would go to the range on Saturday, that was a lot of fun.

I've been wanting to get a .22 suppressor for my .22 pistol, because I'm currently using my 9MM suppressor on the .22 until I got a suppressor.

The problem is that .22's are very dirty, and the 9mm can, cannot break down for cleaning. The .22 suppressor I'm looking at is made in Wisconsin, and is a pretty good price.

My other option would be to buy a new pistol. Seeing the prices on those Sig 225 and 226's that I posted about in the other thread really got me thinking. LOL. Although the price of 9mm ammo is quite a bit higher than .22lr. I've even loaded 9mm, which is about the same price as buying a bulk pack, if you buy brass.

So basically, if I buy the suppressor, I am paying a 200$ "tax" to the government, plus the cost of the suppressor, and then more tax on the cost of the suppressor. So, yeah, a lot goes to taxes. The price of the cheap .22 ammo offsets this I think.

Also, I'm afraid that suppressors will be one of the next scary things that get banned.

Well, the more I write about it, the more I'm leaning towards purchasing the suppressor.

Hopefully, I can purchase a pistol later if I want to.

If I was viewing this in California...

The black helicopters would be circling by the time I typed this!

I think even looking a Supressor Porn is against some law there.

My kid was SO disapointed when the .50 Cal ban went into effect. We had picked out a 'build it yourself' kit (The Grizzly) that we were going to do together as a father-son-scouting project.

So much for that...

Ahhh, a Class 3 State.

If only you guys had decent weather. You already got the Packers. Give Madison to Iowa, and I'd make it a consideration for residence! LOL

Argh! I knew I should have never clicked on that link...

Yeah, I think I will go with the suppressor.

Tony D,

I think it say's a lot about where our country has gone when I see the responses here. California banned pretty much everything, but makes exceptions for movie makers. Of course I haven't seen a lot of street thug bank robbers running around swinging 40lb .50 cal rifles, so it must be working.

Yes, Madison is a pretty screwed up place. They banned the transfer of pistols, but Wis state law says that no political subdivision may enact such a law.

I also got a PM from a guy wondering if Silencers are illegal...?

It doesn't surprise me, as a cousin of mine whom I told I was purchasing a suppressor told me, "Don't do it, they're illegal". Yet, I showed him the government forums, and told him about the sporting store that sells them.

38 out of 50 states allow suppressors. Maybe the other states are't included in the "Land of the free"?

rant/off.

Here's the one I'm looking at. Built here locally in Wisconsin, and I would purchase it right from the MFG, so the time it takes to transfer the Form 4.

Def go with the can. Though I would suggest picking up a MBR in .308 while you still can as well. I'd vote going with an FAL, but the CETME/G3 platform would be decent as well.

I wish I could get a can for my 10/22 here in Kali. I could have sooooooooooo much fun varminting then :(

I have to wonder why you want the silencer. Seems like it would interfere with the sights on the pistols and every place that I go shooting, noise is not a problem. If it's just to exercise your right to have one I understand, since that's the same reason I got the Sig, but I fail to see the practicality in terms of my own gun usage. What does it do for you?

My aunt has 10 acres in the country, which is only a few miles from my house.

Her closest neighbor is about 300 yards down the road on the opposite side of the road. I can go there on a whims notice, and really not bother anyone.

And plus, cool factor... I've always wanted one, now I want two.

That looks like a nice supressor! I say get the can, and hope that firearm purchases will not become difficult or impossible in the future. I can see supressors getting banned before guns. Bans in the past have grandfathered in personally owned items that were banned. So as long as you own it before they ban, you should be good.
