Thank you Spartan.

You're not hijacking this thread by adding your input and experience with your mock up. If anything I encourage anyone and everyone to keep it going. :2thumbs: I'll add and help out as I can.

Looking forward to seeing your progress, with pictures of course. I still have my mock up mule and mock up LS1 so don't hesitate if you have any questions or want any specific pictures posted.

Ok, ok....let's not let this thread die.

I posted a while ago, and I'm doing the swap in my Z32 convertible. As stated earlier, I'm working on fabbing up a custom crossmember and steering rack to allow the LSx to be a bolt-in swap..........and so far, so good. I've got a pretty sweet crossmember setup already mocked up, so hopefully I'll be able to put it in the car and start building motor mounts soon (I'm in the process of buying a house, so that has set me back a bit).

If anyone knows where I can get a good, low mileage LS1 or LS2 swap with t56 tanny for a decent price, let me know. The prices I've seen lately are crazy!!

I'll try my best to keep the updates coming. Good luck to everyone out there doing the swap right now!!

The C-5 and C-6 corvette power train is front engine with a transaxle set up. In crawling under the Z-32 mock up mule, I observed that the Vette transaxle and rear suspension assy just might fit in place of the Z32 rear suspension. Looks to be lots of room under there. I see utilizing the Vette transaxle in the Z-32 as a 2 fold upgrade to the Z-32.

1) I am NOT a fan of the Nissan multilink rear suspension. It is fine for those that drive their cars up to 7-8 tenths, but when driven at the limit, it is very quirky and unpredictable, unless made so stiff it is isn’t “suspending” any more, then you’ve just lost any ride quality for a street car. The Vette rear suspension has proven its self very capable high-performance and race track design that also exhibits some decent street civility.

2) Moving the transmission rear ward helps reduce the Z-32 nose weight. The Z-32 weight distribution is biased heavily on the front wheels. Though most likely wont bring the Frt-Rr weight distribution to 50-50, it will help and is probably the largest most realistic way to balance the cars weight distribution…

^^^ Contemporary Corvette / Fparts are good people to deal with!! ^^^

Sounds like you got a pretty good idea there Sir. That would be the ultimate in performance and looks. I've seen a swap with the corvette setup before but I can't remember where... I think it was in a inconspicuous car too. :2thumbs:

Has anyone tried to fit the SBF in a z32? I don't have a lot of experience around domestics but on paper the SBF is a little smaller in dimension than the chevy blocks. Would this be a viable option, or just as much a pain to fit as the LSx?

I see you're looking at the Autokraft oil pan, but have you seen this:

Moroso Oil Pan: http://www.moroso.com/catalog/categorydisplay.asp?catcode=17002 (bottom of the page)

20140_part.jpg

20140_draw2.jpg

It looks like it may clear it JUST BARELY. (Maybe a little banging required)

The top is just under 2", and the sump is 9 11/16".

(Gonna keep this thread alive, only because it had so many followers)

Looks like this Moroso oil pan (model # 17002) is no longer being made...it's not on their website anymore. There seems to be a "replacement" (model # 20140), but it's nowhere near as small as the 17002 model. I'll call Moroso in the morning to see what's up. This sucks because this is the pan I used to make all my measurements/mockups for my Z32 LS1 swap.

NOW, let's talk about the Autokraft pan. BRAAP....do you by any chance have the measurement for that pan? I sent them an email requesting this info, but haven't heard back from them....and I'm impatient. haha

I certainly do. :wink: I talked with Kurt of Auto Kraft about his oil pan when researching pans for the Z32 and this is the info he gave me;

...

The depth of the pan measures 1 3/4 forward of the sump.

It is 5 1/2 inches deep at the sump

Rear of sump to front of sump is 9 inches

5 1/2qt capacity

Previous page, post #102 was, I'm sorry to say, the last update on this particular project. :-(

This project has since morphed into the project linked below and is well on its way to completion. :2thumbs:

There were a couple other LSx Z-32 projects in progress here. I wonder how far they are by now?...

Any word from Sikky Manufacturing on a kit? When I was working on mine, I was sharing my progress with them directly, the only I received from them at the time was they had a car they were working on for developing a kit. I just looked on their site, nothing on their site about it either? Wonder if they ran into the same road block I hit? :hs:

First post, not meaning to bring up old threads, but gonna start my 300z LS1 swap in a few weeks. Like another member said, any word from SIKKY and there kit? Or does anyone here for that matter sell a kit? Motor mounts, cross member, hydrolic setup (for T56), ect... Or know where to get these from without making them myself?

I talked to Sikky not too long ago via email and they say they are still pressing forward with the Z32 kit and hope to have it released soon. I am watching all of this closely as well :)
