UPDATE-

Before i could start working I needed to clean the shop. I hate working in a mess.

Before:

After:

Now it was time to do work.

Started with fixing some holes

Drivers side:Its not totally done. The triangle in the right corner needs to be filled and it needs some more grinding. I think it came out ok for our first time doing body work and it will be covered by the fender.

Passengers Side: This side was not as bad. The patch was much easier the 2nd time.

Next up was some undercoating removal. Started using a propane torch and stiff putty knife for this. It works much better than a heat gun. After the thick stuff is removed it cleans up nicely with a wire wheel and some lacquer thinner.

Soon got tired of that so i decided to see what was behind the bondo on the driver side quarter.

The bondo was about a 1/4-1/2 in thick in the worst parts. It looks like the quarter rusted so they pushed it back and tacked this up.

Yeah it gives me nightmares to. I think im gonna get a lot of the body work started and let a professional finish it up. Your build looks nice. Cant wait to see it progress.

Update:

Went home this weekend and finished up the rotisserie. Putting the car on was a bit of a trick but we got it with 3 guys. Wouldn't want to do it alone. Amazingly the car didn't fall on the ground. Success fells good. I ran out of time to take good phots but i did snap some on my cell.

the rust under your battery tray wasnt as bad as mine, and m car was a california car. then seeing those corners, i wonder what mine will be like.

I am in South Philly. I've just gone thru my frame restoration. Just a few more minor clean up and ready for re-undercoat and paint. We have to hook up sometimes. Please PM me your number and I will give you a call. I play poker up your way every Friday or Sat.

how did you build your car rotisserie i see you used 2 harbor freight engine stands. cant wait to see how it works out for you. what kinda of rear end do you plain to use with ur 2jz?

There are a few threads on this froum on how to build the rotisserie.

We are planing on putting the stock diff (r160?) and universals back in and just run it till it breaks. Than most likely an r200/cv setup will be swapped in.

we have been getting some things done.

Z-Gad,

I've been searching quite some time to find a local engine shop to build up a mild performance NA 10:1 engine for my 240 from a pair of engines I've accumulated over time. I'm located near Lancaster. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

With your power goals, I would have to agree with grtiz that going with the 1jz might be a bit more cost effective. At SupraStore.com, there are more parts for the 1jz, and they are less expensive than their 2jz counterparts.

Not to mention that the 1jz internals are good up to (according to some other posts on Hybrid Z) 500hp. But if you're set on a 2jz, more power to you, its a great build.
