The guy also has a body shop right down the road, and does alot of Z body work. I have seen the yard, and his work in person. Go off that info, and im sure he will get you an estimate Edit: i just found it ALL Z CAR SPECIALIST 5101 Mosson Rd Fort_Worth,TX 76119 You may have to call a few times, since he is maybe out of the office at the body shop failed didnt read the whole post. his shop is about 1/2 mile from mine. There are plenty of qualified body shop between the two. I would try contacting Steve Richardson at Courtesy Nissan for a good referal. You can also look of ZCOT(Zcluboftexas.org), I believe there are some club sponsors on their website. There must be thirty/forty bodyshops in Richardson alone..but I think he was looking for someplace special to send his baby for a "spa day"! Jerry D has the advantage of years of experience in this one particular model,so he is a good choice. Distance isn't really a factor, since none of the parties involved except our new buddy MCHONG even live here- it'll all be done via emails/fedex anyway. That's why I thought of Bob Smith- Ferrari know's about him & his shop- hell, theygave him an award for his restoration work! That kinda fanatical attention to detail appeals to my old school, do-it-right-the-first-time mind. And despite what the ricer's say, we are dealing with a classic car here. Mchong, listen to this too: treat this as the rarest, most exotic car ever made when dealing with both the insurance and both transport co's.This was Your Baby!! they messed with here, and that s**t ain't gonna fly.... Hammer them, threaten them,harass them,annoy them daily- but do it with a quiet, calm voice. They expect you to scream and rant- don't do it. Slow & steady wins the race; plus, it drives 'em nuts, which is always good for a chuckle. Shooter, I thought Quan's ride was to 240, but all my back issues are in a box in the shed, and it's been so long since I've been to a club meeting, they've moved three times!! Your car was in the #8 table position which is suseptible to #1 the most bounce and undercarriage road debri. The damage on the hatch is absolutley table damage. It was either raised up into the deck above or the deck above was lowered into it. "bounce" would get little dings and broken glass. Those are "gouges". When they picked up the car there should have been a conditon report???? We rarely haul used but when we do it takes me 15-20 minutes per car to go over every sq. inch to document scratches/dings etc. For future reference if anybody needs their car hauled D.A.S. is a nationally reconized excellent carrier that specializes in cross country private owner cars. I do not work for them but in my business they have a great reputation..deliver as promised with a damage rate of .023% our company hauls only new cars,rental to auction,and dealer transfers. Our copmpany demands a damage rate from its drivers to be below .021% mine stands right now at .008%. I have found that in doing business with anything. Furnace repair,roofing,auto repair..on and on and on. A very large % of the time a cheaper price costs you more in the long run. All JMHO of course. I have a second job with a guy who buys and exports classic cars, and we have a lot of cars shipped to us and then shipped down to Houston, and I know how much of a nightmare that can be when something goes wrong. I do have a spare Hatch/Glass from a 72 240 in my garage here in Austin if you need it. It's just collecting dust and I have no use for it. It would need to be repainted but your more than welcome to it. Coincidentally, sometime between the 5th and 15th of November (dont remember the exact date.) I happen to remember seeing a Silver 240Z, on one of the large transportation trucks roll through a Walmart off of I35 here in Austin. The car was definately a 240Z though, and a nice one at that, but I thought it was a very interesting coincidence that I happened to see it around the same time yours was being transported, and not to far away from where you live. I had a great driver though. Delivered the car right to my driveway. The guy's name was Vasily. Young guy who immigrated from Russia. Chatted with him for about 45 minutes. Loves America. He told me to call him directly if I ever needed another car shipped. His company is called Express Auto Shipping, not to be confused with Direct Express Auto Transport, the company that acted as the broker. The only thing they did well was assign my car to a good trucker. Completely opposite to the way my other car shipping experience worked out. In that one the trucker was a...well not very good, but the broker had decent customer service. In that move the PO had to load the car on the trailer and I had to unload it because the trucker was just incompetent. Maybe there should be a thread with car shipping stories? That must have been your car I saw in Austin then, It had a front airdam and was pretty low, had the JDM tails on it as well. Lol, small world. I checked out 2 or 3 cars in the Austin area but they were all wrong for one reason or another. One had a 305 w/ a powerglide, one was too expensive, etc. Most of the z's I saw in Texas were too expensive. I'm going to stop there so this guy's post doesn't get completely jacked. Well, Crusader insurance is not able to get a hold of their insurer. And as of today, the car is still sitting in the garage waiting for the insurance settlement. Crusader insurance did have an independent 3rd party adjuster come out and do an estimate on the repair. ($2,245 total) So far, I had two body shop repair estimates, one body shop quoted me $2,625 and the second shop quoted me $2,750. Crusader insurance wants to settle for $2,500. Crusader insurance said this is for the repair cost and for lost time compensation. How the heck can they offer me less than what the body shops are quoting me? Crusader’s quote, “You should negotiate with the body shops. Our adjusters quote is very reasonable.” I laughed at them. So, this is where I’m at so far. Good chance you could get quite a bit more. Exactly. Keep moving up the chain of command if that's what it takes. A trucker ran into me at a stoplight several years ago. Not much damage but it doesn't take much to total a car. The claims adjuster offered me $2300. Bluebook value was $3000. I refused the initial offer and started working my way up the chain. I got $3000 and the car with no change in the title. I probably could have gotten much more. BTW that's a good looking car. And you must really like MSA.
