T-Bone028 Posted February 11, 2010 Share Posted February 11, 2010 So, after searching for Northern Virginia members/specialists, I came across Datsun Spirit in Manassas VA. I've been to Datsun Dynamics in Vienna before they closed (This is the shop that spurred my love for Z's over 12 years ago, I knew the owners daughter pretty well too). I've heard of Creationz and AutoExpectations in Sterling...but I've never come across Datsun Spirit in Manassas, which is pretty close by to me. The interesting thing, is the website proclaims to be the most thorough builder of L series engines in the states, with race engine builds like a L series N/A 350 HP motor...but, all we ever hear of is sunbelt and rebello. Doing a search on that, found his L6 is fed through 6 motorcycle carbs...pretty cool to say the least. SIDENOTE: Junglist, where in NoVA are you? I'm buried in snow near the intersection of 28 and 66. Got a spare speedo cable by chance you're willing to sell/trade? I have boxes of spare odd's and end's. PM me if interested. Does he still go to meets or hangout at any local car spots? I'd like to know more about his R32 GTR front brake setup and his front struts from an R31 Skyline. What is the advantage to using the struts from an R31, and do they use the same or similar hubs as a S30? 1 tuff z Posted February 12, 2010 Share Posted February 12, 2010 eiji is a great guy. i had spoken to him numerous times prior to meeting in person during 07 daytona z-con. on the cruise to the harley dealer / car show we swapped z's and drove there. the combo of intake and exhaust noise of his z at peak r's around 9k, the sound is absolutely intoxicating. his very serious L32 begins to make power as my LSz hits the rev limiter. it was a great experience to drive the two z's back to back, mine with torque and hp from idle to around 6k and his beginning around 4k and running to over 9k. his z looks fantastic as well, extreme attention to detail in every aspect of the car, from the suspension to the paint and interior. truly a work of z art. i am forever greatful for the opportunity to drive such a unique and well assembled z. great source for z parts, common and not as well. i consider him a good friend as well. thanks eiji! EDIT: there is no 'real' pro Z mechanic in NOVA, there is a team out in Dulles that put dual webbers on my 240z for the previous owners. They used wood screws at 45* angles to hold the throttle linkages in place! There also was at least 4 years ago an old salt Nissan guy in the Tyson's corner dealership that seemed to know his s30 stuff, but I don't know if he is still there. I'm planning on going to Auto Expectations over by Dulles. One of the owners is the son of the guy who owned Datsun Dynamics. I called them last Wednesday and they said they were shutting down Thursday and Friday to go racing at VIR. I drove by the shop today and they have 3-4 parts cars sitting outside. Just having them do a once over and the state safety inspection for $88. I'll let you guys know how it goes. My car is beautiful, I can't believe the shape it was in coming from vegas, they guy who owned it before me was the original owner and really babied this one.
