I just picked up a mint 81 280zx non-turbo that has been garage kept all its life, but has been sitting for the last 4-5 years. It wouldn't get any fuel at first so I blew out the fuel lines, cleaned out the sending unit, replaced the gummed up fuel pump and it fired right up. The only problem is that it is running extremely rich and has no power if you try to drive it.
I downloaded the FSM and checked all the efi components through the ECM harness. They all checked out fine so I am leaning towards fuel pressure. When the regulator goes bad will it piss gas out of the vacuum port? I haven't checked the fuel pressure yet, but when I hooked my vacuum pump to the regulator it never seemed to run any different when i applied different amounts of vacuum to it.
What else should I check since the car was sitting for so long? Could the fuel injectors be so gummed up that they are hanging open and causing this? I unplugged the cold start and it had no effect could it be hng open? Just looking for a few suggestions before I start tearing into it.
