  1. One of the reasons I was curious about this was becuase I'm trying to decide between my 300zx TT and a 240z I'm looking at, I unfortunately can't afford both and am wondering if a 240z would be more beneficial right now due to my lack of funds. If I sold the 300zx I'd have more than enough to get the 240z I'm looking at and do a rebuilt engine swap with hopefully close to 300hp. Anyway, just thoughts. I am glad I got some responses on this. I thought 6.6 was a pretty good time for a stock NA l28 swap was I was kinda wonderin.
  2. Agreed. What I meant was that a 240z with a stock L28et is still no slouch. Like I said, not the fastest, but quick. Of course like you said, a built L28et can just be insane.
  3. Yeah, the spray works great too. You can get it in cans of spray paint if you wanna spray or big cans like wall paint comes in. Make sure you get gloss. Like I said, read up a lot. This is an awesome walkthrough of everything you need, how to do it, and some result pics. http://rollyourcar.com/default.aspx
  4. If you aren't going to get paint soon, I'd recommend throwing some glossy rustoleum on the car. It looks pretty decent, especially for like $50. And, it can be rolled onto the car, so no need for worry about overspray and the paint settling on objects around the car. Look up Big Phil's car. He did this to paint it black and it turned out great. Affordable and you'll get better looks than rolling around in primer. Just look up Rustoleum paint job or roll on paint job or something along those lines on google and there are some sites that'll walk you through it. Research a lot before you do it and you could end up with a result like this guy: (Yup, that's good ol' Rustoleum! (Believe it or not)) <-------Parenthesis inside of a parenthesis. Rock on....
  5. That'd be the one that evoked the curiosity. lol
  6. I doubt I'd be able to take on a project of this size, and I wasn't really planning on it, I was just obtaining information on something that I had noticed. I saw the flow chart and became a little curious but couldn't seem to find much information. I understand why. lol
  7. Yeah, sorry about that. lol. I was just having a lot of trouble finding any info on the subject, guess I was having trouble searching the other night. lol Thanks for the responses though.
  8. a 240z with an l28et is fairly quick. Not ridiculous but decent. I do believe that you are running one....lol I'm wondering if that's the NA cause I figured it would have put in "L28et", "Turbo", or "T". They did down below on the all the other turbo cars.
  9. I was looking at this page from the FAQ's and saw that they quoted the 0-60 of the '71 240z with an L28 at 6.6sec. I searched for the info from Car & Driver, as that's where it said it was obtained from but couldn't find anything. I'm trying to figure out if that quote is for the NA L28 or the Turbo L28. Any help would be appreciated. I'm kinda curious. Here's the link to the FAQ page. http://zhome.com/History/zcarperf.html
  10. Alright, so he took the 4 cyl heads and split them into thirds to make a 6 cyl ka head. I see. Let me know if I'm wrong, otherwise, thank you very much. Last time I read that thread, the info on the head wasn't up yet I don't think. I've been gone for a while.
  11. I was looking through the stickies again, searching for some info that I thought was in one. I came across the datsun heads flow chart in the head sticky. It listed the Ka24 head. So, is the Ka24 a bolt on to the L series or what? I'm a little confused. Was the ka24 on there just for comparison? I searched and found info on the ka24 pistons, but nothing on the head. Can someone clarify?
  12. I'm 18, but owned my 1970 240z when I was about 16-17. I had loved the Z since I was like 13, and found one sitting in a guys backyard. Asked him if it ran and he said yeah. Asked him how much he wanted for it. He said $300, I told him I'd give him $100 today for it. He agreed and I drove it home. Hell of a deal. Did some work to it then I sold that and my Porsche 944, both of which I bought myself, and got a 300zx Twin Turbo, which I still have. I'm going to get another S30 eventually, just don't have the money to drop into it right now.
  13. Yeah, seeing those pics, the color looks a little too light for my taste. I want something a little darker also. Thanks for the suggestions.
  14. I've been searching long and hard trying to find a color that would suit my ideas. I came across and i'm falling in love with it more and more. Anyone have any idea what color it is or at least something very similar? I definitely want a high gloss grey like that. Thanks guys!
  15. I have an HKS EVC III system that is complete except for the extension harness. If anyone has one for sale or is willing to part with their's, please let me know. You can email me at Mauisnow13@yahoo.com, or text/call me at (208) 989-1103. Thanks
