  1. After drilling numerous spotwelds and hours and hours of angle grinder work. Rusted engine bay areas were finally tooked of. First test fittings with new frame rails. You can also see BMW control arm fitting points on the front subframe. I bought new E46 aluminium control arms. Rear fitting point is a bit different on E36. And E46 rear fittings are better on my project. Track width is 40mm wider with E46 control arms than casted iron E36 arms. Please feel free to comment anything. Doesn´t matter is it positive or negative feedback...
  2. It is time to start topic of my 240z build. I´ve been Nissan enthusiast over 15 years. I have had several SX and i always dreamed of S30 Z. Specially 240Z. July 2012 found one for sell on Finnish Datsun/Nissan forum (www.dnsf.org) It was Californian import and really rough shape. Lots of rust and it was without engine and transmission. It was 1973 model and color was 112 yellow. Price was quite cheap and i decide to buy it. At that time i was building house and i didn´t have any time for hobbies so Z have to wait... Restored Z´s are really nice and i love those, but i have another idea. I wanted modern engine restomod/customised body which honours original look. Good brakes, enough power and air conditioning etc... So this one was perfect for me. Didn´t have to sacrifice Z´s on good condition. I dreamed VQ35HR engine with turbo, but because of Finnish regulations it wasn´t possible to register with it. The reason was engine capacity. It was too high for Finnish regulations. Septemper 2013 i found VQ30DET from Nissan Gloria or Cedric and 350Z´s 008 6-speed manual transmission for sale on that same dnsf.org site. It was exactly what i need, so i took a few hundred kilometer trip and took both engine and transmission home. Only (bad) picture of engine and transmission. Finally this summer i had little bit time to take Z to the garage. Strip it down and look closer what´s needs to be done... I knew that there is going to be lot´s of rust and sheetmetal work, but it was even worst than i thought. Car was crashed in the past and front frame rails was poorly straightened. Frame rails had also fractures on points where it was straightened. Rust on battery area, front corners, frame rails, both floors. Also all front suspension joints were loose/broken and brakes were in bad shape. Shock absorbers were empty and so on. List was endless. Good news was that front fenders and hood were on good condition because those were changed. To be continued...
